Jeffrey Streiff 1113976 Posted January 28, 2012 at 10:58 AM Posted January 28, 2012 at 10:58 AM (edited) Hello, I am purchasing a new video card mainly the AMD 1GB DDR5 HD 5870. Not sure what Direct 9,10,11 mean? What should it be set at or does it even need to be set? Is there a particular setting on the video card to adjust this or do I do this within the sim? Confused. Thanks Edited January 29, 2012 at 02:11 AM by Guest
Semir Gebran Posted January 28, 2012 at 07:26 PM Posted January 28, 2012 at 07:26 PM Direct X is a software API that handles 3D graphics among other tings. It is either supplied with games on the CD/DVD or available for download. I think it i salso supplied with Vista and Win7 not sure about XP. Certain card models support certain versions, with those that are new supporting newer releases of Direct X. If it says on your car's box that it supports DX10, it means that it will support it's features and all those of the lower versions of Direct X. /Semir
Wycliffe Barrett Posted January 28, 2012 at 09:18 PM Posted January 28, 2012 at 09:18 PM So you will find some games that are Direct X10 and 11 compatible. FSX has only a direct x10 preview which some people like and others hate. I personally dont actibate it. it can cause more problems than are worth it.
