I know I'm answering this late (or trying to) but just for those that don't know, this happens to me alot. I just pick a different server. That seems to help. So my question, is this a XSquakbox issue or a VATSIM server issue?

Hi James,

I usually get the server info from "Whose online" link on the VATSIM home page. (http://www.vatsim.net/data/who_vatsim.html). I pick the one nearest to me ( right guys?)

Thanks for the information,I did finally get the information needed and connected but nothing is showing on my XPlane screen showing that I am connected.I should see the CONTROLLER & FREQ numbers and the little black box with Standby ,not sure if I am really connected, should I be seeing anything on my XPlane Screen?

When you connect with X-Plane using XSquakbox, you'll see some VATSIM info scroll by ending with a message saying your connected. If you are connected you can Show Who's Online from the XSquakbox menu. The Squak Standby option in the menu works even when your offline. If you can't see the Trasponder box in your plane you might have to scroll down more (down arrow), it all depends on the plane's cockpit layout.

To see if you are online you can also do a unicome check on 122.8 to see if anyone can reply. Finally, you can check the metar of an airport. Bring up the chat window and type in, without the qotes, ".metar kewr". If the server replies with any weather, then you are connected to VATSIM.

Hope that helps... and see you in the skies above.
