Hi to all my fellow flying enthousiasts,

I'm on the process of getting a new desktop computer. I plan on running FSX on Vatsim and use addon aircrafts. I am doing a transition from Windows XP to Windows 7 and from FS9 to FSX, so it's quite quite a big upgrade and a lot a new stuff to learn. I have a hard time choosing the components of the computer to ensure a nice fpm rate, smooth action and nice graphics, with trafic on line and pretty high weather settings. I would therefore ask you people for your expertise. Here is the preliminary list I made of what I'm debating on right now. Please comment and suggest the best pick, another option, or anything that does not seem right for what I'm planning to do with the computer. For some reason it looks like there is less benchmarks for MFS than for most other games ? I include along the prices (canadian dollars) I got offered, it'll give you an idea of the budget I have for the tower:

Antec Sonata 3 144,10

PSU

COOLERMASTER 750W 119,04

MB

ASUS Maximus IV Extreme 358,40

ASUS P8Z68-V PRO 263,17

ASUS P8Z68-V 225,57

RAM

DDR3 1600 8gb (2 x 4gb?) 62,65

CPU

Processor Socket LGA1155, i7-2600 @ 3.4Mhz (Quad) 370,93

GFX

GeForce GTX 450 1GB 137,85

GeForce GTX 550 1GB 175,43

HD/CD/DVD/BD

Seagate SATA 1TB, 5900RPM 120,29

Bluray burner 105,27

I know it can be time consuming to reply to this post, so I thank you all very much for your thoughts on this.

Hey,

Your Computer specs seem fine, however yuo may want to upgrade your RAM to 8GB+. This is becasue FSX can eat up a lot of your RAM space....I have currently 16GB and it runs real smooth, but you pay the price for 16
