Board of Governors Roger Curtiss Posted January 19, 2006 at 10:32 PM Board of Governors Posted January 19, 2006 at 10:32 PM I recently had a new application of Windows XP Pro loaded onto my computer. I began experiencing a problem with FS (2002 and 2004) in that they loaded fine but as soon as I took off the screen went blank and I got an error message that Windows has shut down due to a BAD_POOL_HEADER. The techie who did my XP work suggested that I uninstall and reinstall FS. I tried to uninstall using the All Programs/Microsoft Games/FS2002/Uninstall option (I forgot about the Control Panel/Remove Programs procedure) and it removed the program. However, when I tried the same procedure for FS9 it removed only a couple of files...(visual docking guide and fmc I believe they were...which may actually have been add-ons). After that, the uninstall option no longer appears and FS9 does not appear in the Remove Programs list either. So I am rather in limbo unable to get the program to run correctly and unable to remove it so I can reinstall. I am not sure what to do now and could use some [Mod - Happy Thoughts]istance. Joe Mifsud 928114 Posted January 20, 2006 at 01:07 AM Posted January 20, 2006 at 01:07 AM Had this problem a while ago, did some searching, and found this. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888846/en-us It worked for me, hopefully it will work for you. Board of Governors Roger Curtiss Posted January 21, 2006 at 04:20 PM Author Board of Governors Posted January 21, 2006 at 04:20 PM Thanks Joe. That link worked to get the uninstall to work. I was then able to reinstall FS9. Unfortunately, this has not solved the original problem only now I am also getting an error message Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_or_Equal and I have no clue as to what that means. Anthony ImBoden Posted January 22, 2006 at 01:24 AM Posted January 22, 2006 at 01:24 AM Roger when you get that error (DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL), there is usually a file name [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ociated with it usually about 2/3 the way down the page (usually with the technical info). What is that file name? It may help us in resolving it Anthony ImBoden (CDN008) Vice President of Events & Public Relations Canadian Airlines Virtual Fly the Goose. Board of Governors Roger Curtiss Posted January 22, 2006 at 02:47 AM Author Board of Governors Posted January 22, 2006 at 02:47 AM There was no file name. All that followed were the parameter details 0x000000D1 0x300011146,0x00000002, 0x0000000, 0x80008009. I just tried running FS9 again and this time the error message was again BAD_POOL_HEADER STOP: 0x00000019 0x00000020,0x85c39000,0x85c39138, 0x0A270000 The problem seems to happen each time as soon as the nose lifts off the runway on takeoff. Board of Governors Roger Curtiss Posted January 22, 2006 at 03:13 PM Author Board of Governors Posted January 22, 2006 at 03:13 PM What was done to my computer is this---I was having a problem with the CPU shutting down due to overheating. A new power supply was installed and at the same time my "unauthorized" Windows XP Pro system was replaced by a "legal" version. Nothing else was changed and the tech who did the work said he was able to install the XP over my previous system thus preserving all of the saved programs on the computer. Ah, that COULD be the problem. He may have done a repair and inserted the good OS key. In effect, it's almost like doing an upgrade, which is sketchy to begin with. Really, all he would have needed to do was to rekey the registry and have you activate the OS. But, I digress. I know you probably don't want to hear this Roger, but a full wipe/format/reinstall of the OS may save your bacon. You might let the tech know what's happening if you haven't already.
