Jim Allan Posted January 26, 2006 at 12:56 PM Posted January 26, 2006 at 12:56 PM Good day. Yesterday (25 Jan 06), a friend of mine was doing a trans pacific originating in RJTG to somewhere in the USA. The controler on-line was listed on Serv-info as covering ocianic, however when my friend started giving position reports, the controler stated that he was Tokyo control and told the pilot that further position reports where not required. I went to the Vat-Japan site, and tried to find out what was going on, but got further confused. The way I read it is that Tokyo control can be split into E and W sectors, neither of which extend much out to sea. Yet, I find no reference to Ocianic control. SI's map has RJTG extending out to 165 deg E. Considerably further out than just the islands. My questions: is SI out to luch reference the way they draw the sectors for Japan? Was the controler on duty listed on the wrong ctr ID? Or does the web site need to be up-dated? Thanks much! Masafumi Teshiba 810826 Posted February 4, 2006 at 03:15 PM Posted February 4, 2006 at 03:15 PM Hi Jim The SI shows Tokyo FIR, not Tokyo Control. You can see the border between the airspace of Tokyo Control and oceanic here. http://www.vatjpn.org/image/TokyoCTR.jpg Basically, Tokyo Control isn't on duty in oceanic area, though it depends on the controller. If the controller tells other to cover it, the callsign will be RJTG_V_FSS. Regards, Masafumi Teshiba VATJPN1 Masafumi Teshiba
