Matt Kaine 1195440 Posted November 20, 2013 at 07:47 AM Posted November 20, 2013 at 07:47 AM I have spent about 5hrs now trying to get XSquawkBox and VatSim working and No Joy. Running Win7 Ultimate 64bit 2gb Ram Intel Xenon 3.20ghz Core 2 X Plane 9.7 32bit Xsquawkbox 11 I followed instructions exactly. Downloaded and extracted files for XSquawkBox 11. Put the Folder XSquawkBox in the Resorces/Plugins folder. And could not get it to show up in Plugins menu after starting my XPlane 9.7. After some trial and error I found if I copied the win.xpl file from the 32 folder and stuck it directly into the resorces/plugins/Xsquawkbox folder I could at least get it to show up in Xplane but it is not loading any of the other files tho. I tried copying them directly to the /Xsquawkbox folder like the win.xpl file but still wont load. So when I load as directed Xplane/Resources/Plugins/XSquawkbox/32 it doesn't even try to load in Xplane as shown in log file... At this point XSquawkBox shows up in Xplane, but tells me it didn't load everything. So I try to log onto the Vatsim server and I get an error: invalid cid/p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word (6) message. My ID was set to inactive and I reactivated it and might just be taking for ever for the Servers to re-activate my CID. I can wait a bit on that. I find it odd that in the log file it is looking for files with \..\ in the address. It may mean nothing, but only thing I could find that could possibly stop the files from loading. So any ideas as to why the core Xsquawkbox stuff isn't loading properly? Not sure if it matters but Xplane has its own dedicated HDD separate from the HDD with the OS on it. Thanks in advance for any advice. Right now my brain wants to explode from info overload.
John Wiesenfeld Posted November 20, 2013 at 01:37 PM Posted November 20, 2013 at 01:37 PM If you are using XP9.7, you might want to try the earlier version of XSB, which is 1.0.6, also available on the XSB download page. That has always worked OK for me. Good luck. John John Wiesenfeld ZNY - C1 FAA IFR/SEL in a galaxy long ago and far away
Mike Burke 1145825 Posted November 20, 2013 at 11:05 PM Posted November 20, 2013 at 11:05 PM XP9 won't look in the 32/64 bit structured folders, as far as I know, since it predates support for those. The older version of XSB should work fine for you since you're constrained to 32-bits - I'd try 1.0.6 first.
Matt Kaine 1195440 Posted November 20, 2013 at 11:44 PM Author Posted November 20, 2013 at 11:44 PM Thanks for the responses. After i posted last night i went back to the XsquawkBox download page and found the older version. Installed and verified it worked. Now hopefully this will allow me to [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ign my PTT button. Last night with 11 as soon as I pressed [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ign 128 would appear and would not take any other [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ignment. I will play with it tonight, hopefully it will go smoothly. Thanks again for the reply Guys!!!
