Joaquin Blanco Posted December 16, 2013 at 01:54 PM Posted December 16, 2013 at 01:54 PM Yesterday flew MMMX-CYVR with the PMDG 777 and used FSUIPC log to constantly monitor VAS. During the flight VAS was never higher than 1.2Gb but on arrival to Vancouver I began to hear the OOM warning Ding and on checking FSX memory usage on Task Manager, FSX memory usage (not VAS) had jumped from approx 1.2GB to 3.4Gb. Thankfully I still managed to land without a CTD but obviously the fact that a single airport can more than double the memory usage is something of concern. The VAS within FSX was still just above 1.2G when the memory warning started and remained so until I finally closed down the sim. When installing the scenery I chose 2048 textures which were also reflected on my FSX.cfg. Has anybody experienced any issues with this scenery, or is able to explain why this is happening? Any possible solution? Thanks Best regards Joaquin Blanco
Marc Wheeler Posted December 16, 2013 at 05:57 PM Posted December 16, 2013 at 05:57 PM Do you happen to also have the Orbx region installed? If so, the combination of the Triple 7, Vacouver and Orbx could be causing your memory problem. VATSIM: P1|C3
Joaquin Blanco Posted December 16, 2013 at 08:50 PM Author Posted December 16, 2013 at 08:50 PM Marc, thanks for replying. I did have the following sceneries installed: UTXUSA & UTX CANADA, ORBX PNA, Northern Rockies & Fjords, I guess you hit the nail in the head and this explains the sudden jump in memory usage. I suppose using the NGX may have the same results. Shame I really like the ORBX sceneries. Best regards Joaquin Blanco
Board of Governors Tim Barber Posted December 16, 2013 at 09:16 PM Board of Governors Posted December 16, 2013 at 09:16 PM Joaquin, The FSDreamteam support forums has lots of information on this. I would suggest that you focus your research there. I also have suffered from this problem, and I found that although I had also chosen the 2048x2048 on installation, a subsequent installation of a scenery using the Couatl engine defaulted everything back to 4096x4096...so check that for starters. The use of a program like the Razer Game Booster may help by shutting down all unnecessary processes that are running in the background. Also check that your traffic is set to use Lores models. Marc Wheeler Posted December 16, 2013 at 09:16 PM Posted December 16, 2013 at 09:16 PM You may want to try reducing the texture size of your Vancouver scenery. This may free up enough memory so that you can complete your flight. Regards, VATSIM: P1|C3
