Jeff Thomas Posted January 5, 2014 at 04:32 AM Posted January 5, 2014 at 04:32 AM I'm really starting to not like Windows 8.1...grrr... Anyway, just when I think I have everything all figured out a new "issue" arises. This time, my CH Pro pedals and yoke seem to magically "disappear" while flying. It's happened a couple times now. Windows 8.1 64bit 32GB RAM ATI Radeon R9 200 4gb I really shouldn't be having these types of issues. I run FSX in XP sp 2 compat mode as admin. Thanks for any help. PS> thought I saw a thread on this somewhere but couldn't find it...sorry for duplicate if that's the case. Jeff Thomas Posted January 5, 2014 at 05:03 AM Author Posted January 5, 2014 at 05:03 AM I did find this link and have set the power settings accordingly. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/421313-possible-solution-windows-8-and-81-joystick-solution-for-fsx-and-prepar3d/ CH Manager sees the devices just fine as well. So hopefully FSX won't lose them now either. I love when Microsoft just "does stuff" for me without me really seeing it....grrr Jeff Thomas VP-IT https://joinava.org
Neil Farrington Posted January 5, 2014 at 05:31 AM Posted January 5, 2014 at 05:31 AM It appears as though there are a number of different causes for the connection dropping between FSX and Windows 8, the power configurations being just one of them - I myself tried this solution before and the connection still kept being dropped. My way around it has been to use FSUIPC to map all of the controls, and disable the controllers in FSX itself. It's a pain to set up, but once everything is setup and configured, FSUIPC takes care of everything, and it actually provides much more flexibility for changing any controls in the future. Jeff Thomas Posted January 12, 2014 at 05:18 PM Author Posted January 12, 2014 at 05:18 PM Yep finally just went out and got FSUIPC pay version. Works as advertised. Now I have the problem where FSX decides to re-enable the controllers when I specifically tell it not to and save the flight. Seems like it still has a mind of its own lol. Thanks for the advice.
