Even Rognlien Posted April 7, 2014 at 09:59 PM Posted April 7, 2014 at 09:59 PM (edited) I put this little thing together this weekend. It runs outside of Euroscope and is very easy to set up. It's based on the real NATCON (Norwegian Air Traffic Control System) ILS radar, but can be used on any airport in the world. Latest version is available here: http://goo.gl/719jRA If you suspect a bug or have any feature suggestions, feel free to contact me! Hope you like it! Jack Colwill 815386 Posted April 10, 2014 at 08:03 PM Posted April 10, 2014 at 08:03 PM Works pretty slick except I had my aircraft tracking inbound to the threshold but from the right side of the centreline. I will see if I can attach a photo. I have all the data correct, threshold coordinates, inbound course, etc. https://www.dropbox.com/s/re45k9b7y2err4y/par.PNG I can NEVER figure out how to post an image directly to my post. I just click the IMG button above and put the link in between the brackets don't I? When I do that and post, all I can see on my post is a box that says Image in it and no picture. Even Rognlien Posted April 10, 2014 at 09:37 PM Author Posted April 10, 2014 at 09:37 PM Hello Jack! Where is the airport located? Does this happen with all aircrafts?
Jack Colwill 815386 Posted April 11, 2014 at 04:49 AM Posted April 11, 2014 at 04:49 AM airport is CYYZ. I have only tried with one aircraft on sweatbox.
Phill Powell 849479 Posted April 11, 2014 at 07:51 AM Posted April 11, 2014 at 07:51 AM Hi Even, Nice job. You caught me out for a bit. Once I put - for west it worked. My traffic comes in from the wrong side too. Suspect this might be due to using RWY28 so the aspect is wrong. Can you make it "flippable" so touch down is on the left for westerly runways? Even Rognlien Posted April 11, 2014 at 12:28 PM Author Posted April 11, 2014 at 12:28 PM Phill: I will make it flippable Jack: I think I found the problem. The bearing calculation between the treshold and the aircraft gives a true heading, but the heading written on the airport chart is magnetic. If you change the runway course to true heading, it should give you the correct output. I will see if I can make it use magnetic headings. Thanks for your feedback! Phill Powell 849479 Posted April 11, 2014 at 01:09 PM Posted April 11, 2014 at 01:09 PM However yours doesn't work for me so might be due to it being https or dropbox. Try putting the image in to photobucket or similar, and try. Phill Vatsim network supervisor VATeud I1/VATeir local examiner.
Ross Carlson Posted April 11, 2014 at 01:15 PM Posted April 11, 2014 at 01:15 PM It's because that link is to a web page with an embedded image ... it's not an actual image. Dropbox is tricky that way. You might be able to extract the actual image URL from the web page source code and use that instead. Even Rognlien Posted April 11, 2014 at 05:11 PM Author Posted April 11, 2014 at 05:11 PM Hi! I have updated the link in the first post. Latest version will flip view from left/right based on direction of the approach (can also be controlled manually). I have been looking around but I haven't found any safe/easy way to calculate magnetic heading... However, I found this page where you can look up true runway headings for almost any airport: http://airportnavfinder.com/airport/CYYZ Another way is to use the Euroscope command .dcenter and measure the direction of the runway/ILS. For taking screenshots, I recommend Gyazo: https://gyazo.com/ Very easy to use, no registration and uploads immediately to the internet
Phill Powell 849479 Posted April 11, 2014 at 06:48 PM Posted April 11, 2014 at 06:48 PM (edited) Hi Even, Many thanks for the flippable version. For magnetic I was using the charts. At least for UK and Ireland the variation is printed on it. For Dublin 279 + 4 = 283 which matches perfectly with using your far easier method of using Euroscope and .dcenter eidw. Thanks again Phill. Edit, +1 for Gayzo, Even. I have it on the desktop and always forget about it. :~( Edited April 12, 2014 at 07:54 AM by Guest Vatsim network supervisor VATeud I1/VATeir local examiner.
