Alexandre Geahel 932157 Posted February 21, 2006 at 01:56 AM Posted February 21, 2006 at 01:56 AM I got to see lots of VFR pilots in my airspace and I thought, why not make a topic on Controlled VFR in Lebanon? So here it is... VFR in Lebanon VFR in Lebanon is allowed for 4 airport: OLBA/OLRA/OLKA/Z19o Runway in to use: Any runway is approaved for props (ex: C172). Heavies operating on Visual Flight Rules (VFR) Cannot depart runways 34&35 because of high moutains near the treshold. Instead Runway 16/16 - 21/03 is approaved. Aircrafts are always asked to report on final and downwind legs. Any other reports must always be confirmed by the controller in charge of the Aircraft. Here is an exemple of a controled VFR plane: Pilot: Oscar Delta tree one niner (319) is on downwind for runway 16. Controller: Oscar Delta tree one niner (319) roger report on final. Pilot: Roger we will call you on final, Oscar Delta tree one niner (319) ==At this moment the pilot is on final== Pilot: Oscar Delta tree one niner (319) is on final for runway 16. Controller: Oscar Delta tree one niner (319) roger the surface winds are 180 at 06 knots (Remember this is an example) Pilot: Oscar Delta tree one niner (319) is clear to land, we copy the winds. Tower controllers (TWR) do not need for a release of a VFR aircraft since this one is staying in it's airspace, hence if the aircraft is VFR to a nearby airport, the Ground controller or Tower (1st one in charge of the aircraft) will have to advise Approach or Center (if online) a VFR aircraft will soon be handed off to them. This is basic VFR operations in Lebanon, please do remember that those instructions are stricly for: OLBA (Beirut International airport) and OLRA (Rayak airfield) OLKA (Kleiat airfield) and Z19o (Beirut airfield) airports.
