John Navara 985663 Posted May 2, 2014 at 01:45 AM Posted May 2, 2014 at 01:45 AM I have vPilot running on a remote Windows 7 laptop. SimConnect works and I have tested using the AItraffic.exe file in the SDK directory. I have attached a screenshot of the error that I am getting. I also have SimConnect working on remote XP box that runs my ActiveSky Next. When I couldn't get it to work on the Win7 computer I installed on the XP box. Works fine with that one. I have all the requirements outlined in the docomeent. John John Navara A mile of highway can take you a mile, a mile of runway can take you anywhere. Ross Carlson Posted May 2, 2014 at 01:54 AM Posted May 2, 2014 at 01:54 AM There should be a GlobalExceptions.txt file in your vPilot install dir, which can be found by entering this in the start menu search box: %localappdata%\vPilot Can you email that to me? Ross Carlson Posted May 2, 2014 at 02:18 AM Posted May 2, 2014 at 02:18 AM Looks like you don't have the required DirectX libraries. I thought they were available on any Win7 machine, but I guess not. Try running this DirectX installer and see if it corrects the issue: http://vpilot.metacraft.com/[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ets/Files/dxwebsetup.exe If you'd rather download it from Microsoft, try here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 Developer: vPilot, VRC, vSTARS, vERAM, VAT-Spy Senior Controller, Boston Virtual ARTCC

Ross Carlson Posted May 2, 2014 at 01:17 PM Posted May 2, 2014 at 01:17 PM You can go to the add/remove programs list in the Control Panel and look for Microsoft ESP SimConnect Client. It should show the version there. Change to the detailed view and it'll show you a column for date and version. Check to see if those two values are the same on all your computers. Ross Carlson Posted May 2, 2014 at 03:12 PM Posted May 2, 2014 at 03:12 PM Hrm ... so you have two versions of the client installed on the AS Next machine. You said vPilot works on that machine? Yes that is correct. There are 2 versions plus the SDX SP2 installed on that PC. Not exactly sure where to find the new SimConnect client. If I could find that I would install and test it. Ross Carlson Posted May 2, 2014 at 03:30 PM Posted May 2, 2014 at 03:30 PM Yeah, TeamViewer is sweet. Here's where the client installer is located by default: c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\lib It's called SimConnect.msi. You could try copying that file from your FSX machine to the vPilot machine and running it there. Michel Paquette 923683 Posted May 3, 2014 at 01:55 AM Posted May 3, 2014 at 01:55 AM Hey folks I was trying to set up VPilot on second computer. I started by installing VPilot in second computer, then copying the SimConnect.cfg from my FSWidgets G-plan, which works fine, then started VPilot. I got the message about the directx, so as per this post I found and installed it. When I tried to start VPilot again, I got the same message from the top of this posting. I found the SimConnect.msi in my SDK/lib directory, but it is version v10.0.61242.0. I tried installing that file but it still does not work. As I was writing this, I decided to check a few more program folders of add-ons that work. And I found that for the FSWidgets EFBFSX, there were 3 SimConnect files, SimConnect.cfg, SimConnect.dll, and SimConnect.xml. Even thou the VPilot did contain the file ”Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect.dll” I decided to copy all 3 files in my VPilot directory and now it works. So, which one of these file was the important one? I have notice that both .dll files are version v10.0.61637.0 Michel E Paquette
Ross Carlson Posted May 3, 2014 at 02:01 AM Posted May 3, 2014 at 02:01 AM It was the SimConnect DLL that fixed it, most likely. Developer: vPilot, VRC, vSTARS, vERAM, VAT-Spy Senior Controller, Boston Virtual ARTCC
