I have vPilot running on a remote Windows 7 laptop. SimConnect works and I have tested using the AItraffic.exe file in the SDK directory. I have attached a screenshot of the error that I am getting. I also have SimConnect working on remote XP box that runs my ActiveSky Next. When I couldn't get it to work on the Win7 computer I installed on the XP box. Works fine with that one.

I have all the requirements outlined in the docomeent.

Looks like you don't have the required DirectX libraries. I thought they were available on any Win7 machine, but I guess not.

Try running this DirectX installer and see if it corrects the issue:

http://vpilot.metacraft.com/[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ets/Files/dxwebsetup.exe

If you'd rather download it from Microsoft, try here:

Yes it works fine on the flight sim computer. It also works fine on the other remote computer that I use for ASNext. How do I determine the correct version of SimConnect on each computer?

You can go to the add/remove programs list in the Control Panel and look for Microsoft ESP SimConnect Client. It should show the version there. Change to the detailed view and it'll show you a column for date and version. Check to see if those two values are the same on all your computers.

First off thanks for all of your help!!!!

OK, here is what I am seeing on all 3 computers:

Desktop-FS1 - Main flight sim computer

- Microsoft Flight Simulator X Service Pack 2

- Microsoft Flight Simulator X SP2 SDK

Desktop-FS2 - AS Next (Working with FSX)

- Microsoft Flight Simulator SimConnect Client v10.0.61242.0

- Microsoft Flight Simulator SimConnect Client v10.0.61259.0

- Microsoft Flight Simulator X SP2 SDK

Laptop- FS1 - vPilot (Not working with FSX) (It does work with PilotEdge which used SimConnect as well)

- Microsoft Flight Simulator SimConnect Client v10.0.61242.0

- Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK

- Microsoft Flight Simulator X SP2 SDK

Hrm ... so you have two versions of the client installed on the AS Next machine. You said vPilot works on that machine?

I'm not at home right now so I can't check the exact version of the SimConnect client library that vPilot is looking for, but I'll check when I get home.

Yes that is correct. There are 2 versions plus the SDX SP2 installed on that PC. Not exactly sure where to find the new SimConnect client. If I could find that I would install and test it. I am at work and have access to all 3 computers using TeamViewer. It's free to home use. I love it.

Yeah, TeamViewer is sweet.

Here's where the client installer is located by default:

c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\lib

It's called SimConnect.msi.

You could try copying that file from your FSX machine to the vPilot machine and running it there.

We must have been typing at the same time.

I got it working. I searched Google and found the locations of the SimConnect files. Here is where each version is located.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\lib (v10.0.61259.0)

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\LegacyInterfaces\FSX-RTM (v10.0.60905.0)

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\LegacyInterfaces\FSX-SP1 (v10.0.61242.0)

John

P.S. Thanks for all of your help!!!! I cannot wait to get home and tryout the new client tonight. Looks like I'll have some work to do with the model matching as my friends and I like doing early morning GA flights together.

Hey folks

I was trying to set up VPilot on second computer. I started by installing VPilot in second computer, then copying the SimConnect.cfg from my FSWidgets G-plan, which works fine, then started VPilot. I got the message about the directx, so as per this post I found and installed it. When I tried to start VPilot again, I got the same message from the top of this posting.

I found the SimConnect.msi in my SDK/lib directory, but it is version v10.0.61242.0. I tried installing that file but it still does not work.

As I was writing this, I decided to check a few more program folders of add-ons that work. And I found that for the FSWidgets EFBFSX, there were 3 SimConnect files, SimConnect.cfg, SimConnect.dll, and SimConnect.xml. Even thou the VPilot did contain the file ”Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect.dll” I decided to copy all 3 files in my VPilot directory and now it works.

So, which one of these file was the important one? I have notice that both .dll files are version v10.0.61637.0

I have the same problem:

FSX with Acceleration

No SimConnect client listed as installed in Programs (makes sense)

vPilot runs on same PC as FSX

tried the DirectX web installer linked previously--said I had a newer one installed so nothing happened.

---

This happened right after the sim crashed. vPilot runs until I click "continue" or "quit" in a dialog box with this message:

"Unhandled exception hqas occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately."

"Exception from HRESULT: 0xC000014B"

--Button for details shows this info below--

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
