Not recognizing Joystick PTT

I am using the Saitek X52 with Windows 7 and have not had any issues with previous clients. I am able to use the mouse at anytime on the stick and the computer is recognizing the inputs. I have reinstalled the joystick drivers, run vPilot as an admin and reinstalled with no luck. When I go to set my PTT vPilot doesn't pick it up.

Anyone else having this issue with a fix?

What do you mean when you say you can use the mouse on the stick?

The X52 has a built in mouse that functions just as your mouse would. I can click the screen, everything works etc. However when I click the PTT button on the joystick vPilot doesn't recognize that anything is going on. So long story short I can't set it

Did you try all of the buttons, or just the one that you want to use?

I've tried all of the buttons with no luck, it's still waiting for the joystick input.

I guess it doesn't show up in the code as a normal joystick device then.

You say you used it on previous clients ... does that include Squawkbox?

You need to configure it via FSUIPC and WideFS..see below:

Mine is running fine..

You need to configure it via FSUIPC and WideFS.

That's only if you're running vPilot on a different machine than FSX.

It has worked fine with SB and FSInn. I'll just be using my ~ key for now...I just like having HOTAS capability on approach

How did you make it work with SB? To my knowledge it does not support joystick buttons for PTT, only keyboard keys. Did you use a piece of software (such as FSUIPC) which maps the joystick button to a keyboard key?

I didn't touch anything to make it work with SB...I only used it twice to get onto the network with P3D then took Marcs advice and waited for this client.

If anyone could walk me thru mapping as a work around (or what may be something that I think is an issue which isn't) that'd be great

Got me stumped ... I don't know how you possibly got it working with SB without doing any mapping.

I'm not familiar with the Saitek ... is it possible that it has driver software that does the mapping for you, and thus the buttons don't appear to vPilot as regular joystick button presses?

I can confirm that using the instructions on the PDF docomeent linked in post above and using WideFS the PTT button can be set to recognise my Saitek Proflight Yoke System.

Best regards

Check the section on the Audio Tab in the Settings window.

Hi Ross,

It's not picking up any buttons on my joystick.

Ahh ... I'm sensing a pattern here.

Not sure why the Saitek doesn't show up as a regular USB joystick device for vPilot. Could you try using FSUIPC to map the joystick button to a keypress, then configure that key as PTT in vPilot, and let me know if that works?

my Saitek yoke has no problem. The PTT works fine and is recognized by vPilot.

Is yours also an X52?

No, but just wanted to mention it because it isn't a Saitek issue. Maybe for that particular joystick it is.

Just to jump into this thread here... also using a Saitek X52 Pro.

PTT not recognised: it doesn't pick up any button I press on the device.

Worked fine in FSInn.

Will try your FSUIPC suggestion now

Ok, with the Saitek X52 Pro, [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igning a keyboard key to the PTT in vPilot and then using FSUIPC to [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ign the desired X52 button to this keyboard key does the trick...

But it would be nice to figure out why it doesn't work "natively".

Otherwise, very cool piece of software !

It's bye bye FSInn for me

One suggestion: could you make, like FSInn had that possibility, a "minified" version to keep on top of the FSX screen instead of the full interface, which takes up quite some real estate.

Thanks

Mathieu

Hi,

Same here X-52 Pro, but that is not the reason I am posting, just to make a clarification about SB PTT configured with a button.

SB PTT would work via FSUIPC PTT FS Commands, without the need to configure anything else neither in SB or FSInn for that matter.

X-52 is seen by windows as a regular USB game controller with it's own driver it is recognized by FS without any issues.

Regards,

Jose
