Trent Hopkinson Posted February 24, 2006 at 12:17 AM Posted February 24, 2006 at 12:17 AM Hi, I just reicently moved into a college where my internet is part of the university servers. Ya, can't connect to the servers here with SB3 or FSinn or ASRC. I can connect to Servinfo however to see the map and what ATC is on etc, but when I ping servers I get this odd looking response: Any thoughts or ideas? Should I talk to the college IT guy about getting some TCP/UDP ports opened for my aviation interest hobby? (well I do have a student pilot liscence to prove Im rather serious about it) or should I go get a second job and trek 15 km down the road to YMMB and log more real hours any thoughs on what could be going on from the evidence so far? SB just sais "Connection Timed out", and FSinn isn't populating the server list. I don't really fancy the idea of no vatsim till December. Norman Blackburn Posted February 24, 2006 at 09:37 AM Posted February 24, 2006 at 09:37 AM Trent, At a guess it would appear the Uni are dropping ICMP so that will kill your ping. If you contact me on MSN I will explain how to do a couple of tests from your PC to determine just how locked down things are for you. Trent Hopkinson Posted February 24, 2006 at 01:46 PM Author Posted February 24, 2006 at 01:46 PM oops didn't get the post till just then... Had issues with MSN too, but using web MSN works... If that doesn't work I might dust off my dial up modem and get me a cheap dial up plan for vatsim use (and I mean it too, truly on the cards... 200mb, unlimited time, 12 hour timeouts, for $9.95 a month... Use it exclusivley for vatsim flight, and the broardband from uni for other downloads to keep that 200mb only for SB3 and Activesky..) but I'll wait to hear from you first before I start dishing out money Trent Hopkinson YMML. www.youtube.com/musicalaviator WorldFlight 2002,2008,2009, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2015
