Matthew Schoenberg 959688 Posted February 28, 2006 at 01:23 AM Posted February 28, 2006 at 01:23 AM I have now installed most of the software and am in the learning cycle. To think I knew a lot?? I now realize I have so much to learn and am studying for many hours each day. I hope to soon get into the air. I certainly understand how to fly a 737-400 but what I am really having to work on is all the details of ATC. I hope to see all of you in the air sometime soon. I have an additional software question. I have installed the ASRC and Squawkbox3. I was wondering if you thought it would be a good idea to install ServInfo? I had also heard some good things about FSNavigator? How would that work with ASRC and is that a good idea? Your help and suggestions as always are most appreciated. Thanks, Matthew
Craig Moulton Posted February 28, 2006 at 02:14 AM Posted February 28, 2006 at 02:14 AM ASRC is the Controller client, not needed if you are only going to be a pilot. ServInfo is certainly worth installing. It will [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ist you in finding ATC, bad wx, good wx, friends, and other odds & ends such as airport ICAO's, names, timezones, etc. As far as FSNavigator goes...some people swear by it (and rely on it too much IMHO). I tried it, but hated it. I started out navigating the old fashioned way with paper charts and dialing radio's and course knobs. I now use advanced (payware) aircraft with fancy FMC's, INS's, ONS's, and the like, though I still like to strap on a /A aircraft and get back to my roots (not routes! ) every now and then. I don't recall if FSNavigator has a try before you buy option, but if it does, you certainly should look into it before spending the money. Again...this is just one opinion of very many. Fly Safe! Have Fun! Craig Moulton

Again...this is just one opinion of very many. Yup, it does, it's something like the first 20 FS sessions or something. I've used it, its ok, in my opinion the FMCs are a lot more fun to use, and if you don't have an FMC, then doing it the old fashion way is the way to go! Keeps you entertained while your cruising!
