Masaki Hasuike Posted June 30, 2014 at 03:14 PM Posted June 30, 2014 at 03:14 PM Winsock Error (10060) I've been using TWRTrainer without problem for few years as training manager of VATJPN.(windows 7, 64bit, SP1) But tonight, when I open the *.air file, winsock 10060 error occurred. Another member of my team tried to open the *.air file, it gave the same error. (We can connect to the sweatbox using VRC.) TWRTrainer throws this error : "The following winsock error occurred with index 0: (10060) The attempt to connect timed out" Followings are what I have tried (but doesnt work). 1 : checked my CID and p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]word 2 : connecting server -> sweatbox.vatsim.net 3 : off the antivirus software and firewall 4 : tried ACSIM, but was not able to load a file 5 : reboot my computer and router 6 : run as an administrator Also I have read similar topic "Winsock Error (10061)". viewtopic.php?f=50&t=43444 viewtopic.php?f=50&t=57997 Anyone have ideas? --------------- Masaki Hasuike VATJPN2 Masaki Hasuike / 1141450 / VATJPN1

Bradley Grafelman Posted June 30, 2014 at 04:39 PM Posted June 30, 2014 at 04:39 PM I'm able to connect to Sweatbox using VRC, but TWRTrainer is giving me the same error. Sounds like it's something that ought to be looked into. EDIT: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=39983&p=470376#p470376
Ross Carlson Posted June 30, 2014 at 04:48 PM Posted June 30, 2014 at 04:48 PM I'm able to connect aircraft to the sweatbox with TWRTrainer without issue. Bradley Grafelman Posted June 30, 2014 at 04:50 PM Posted June 30, 2014 at 04:50 PM (edited) That's interesting. Version 1.0.97, yes? I just tried a couple of times, and 0 aircraft were able to successfully connect. EDIT: Also verified using Wireshark that TWRTrainer is receiving 0 packets from the server when it attempts to connect. EDIT2: And now the server is forcefully refusing VRC connections (SYN packets are met with RST+ACK immediately). Kieran Hardern Posted June 30, 2014 at 04:58 PM Posted June 30, 2014 at 04:58 PM Applied a *potential* fix... I don't have TWR trainer myself to test - can someone try now please.
Bradley Grafelman Posted June 30, 2014 at 04:59 PM Posted June 30, 2014 at 04:59 PM Kieran.. it got worse for me; TWRTrainer still timing out on connection phase. VRC is now getting Unauthorized client software errors.
Kieran Hardern Posted June 30, 2014 at 05:01 PM Posted June 30, 2014 at 05:01 PM OK. Will take a little longer then. I'll get back to you

Kieran Hardern Posted June 30, 2014 at 05:03 PM Posted June 30, 2014 at 05:03 PM OK. Will take a little longer then. I'll get back to you OK, I've put it back so that ES and VRC should work again. Going to take a little longer to sort TWRtrainer though.
Bradley Grafelman Posted June 30, 2014 at 05:03 PM Posted June 30, 2014 at 05:03 PM Ross, can you confirm you're using the publicly available version 1.0.97 of TWRTrainer? Just curious to know why you were able to add aircraft previously (and perhaps now as well?).
Ross Carlson Posted June 30, 2014 at 05:10 PM Posted June 30, 2014 at 05:10 PM No, I'm using a later version that is not available ... I'm not sure what the differences are and there's no way for me to find out. I wrote this code 6+ years ago and don't even have the VB6 development environment set up any more. Kieran, what changed recently on the SB server? Developer: vPilot, VRC, vSTARS, vERAM, VAT-Spy Senior Controller, Boston Virtual ARTCC
Colin Schoen Posted June 30, 2014 at 05:10 PM Posted June 30, 2014 at 05:10 PM I am on version 1.0.101 and seem to be experiencing the same thing issue. So maybe he is using something newer. Colin Schoen Posted June 30, 2014 at 05:30 PM Posted June 30, 2014 at 05:30 PM It's a server-side issue. Sorry, I should have made an additional comment once we figured that out. Colin Schoen VATSIM Senior Network Supervisor
