Events Coordinator & VA Liaison

 

The Moncton/Gander Flight Information Region (FIR) is VATSIM’s “Gateway to Canada's East Coast.” An active FIR, featuring one of VATSIM's longest running weekly events, Moncton Mondays, the Moncton/Gander FIR offers a wide variety of airports and challenging weather conditions. A recent restructuring within VATCAN has seen the FIR expand to take over the Gander Oceanic airspace, making the FIR one of the few within VATSIM that can lay claim to having access to all ATC positions within the same region. Moncton/Gander FIR is seeking a dynamic team-player to fulfill the role of Events Coordinator & VA Liaison. The incomebent should have several years ATC experience, with a minimum rating of C1. Experience as an oceanic controller is considered an [Mod - Happy Thoughts]et. Please note that excellent written and oral communication skills are required for this position. Additionally the incomebent must be member of the VATSIM Network in good standing without any major disciplinary actions on their VATSIM CERT record, and will have to transfer to the Moncton/Gander FIR, and to VATCAN if outside of the Division.

 

Specifically, the Events Coordinator & VA Liaison is responsible for:

• Reports to the FIR Chief and works with other members of the FIR Management Team.

• Functions as an FIR Management Team member, attending periodic meetings to report on events and activities, and to stay abreast of FIR issues and policies.

• Working with the Media Coordinator, plans and promotes events that will increase traffic within the FIR.

• Coordinates with VATCAN Events Coordinators on inter-divisional events.

• Coordinates with the Boston ARTCC Events Coordinator on "cross-fire" type events between Moncton/Gander FIR and Boston ARTCC.

• Works with the Oceanic Sector Manager on the annual "Cross The Pond" events.

• Solicits the [Mod - Happy Thoughts]istance of other members of the FIR as necessary to [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ist in events duties, and maintains a participant schedule for ATC positions during events.

• Serves as the FIR liaison to virtual airlines (VA) and special interest groups.
