Stuart Duncan Posted September 23, 2014 at 09:28 AM Posted September 23, 2014 at 09:28 AM Hi Folks, I've acquired a few Saitek Flight Instrument Panels for a small project I'm working on. They are quite resource intensive, so I intend to run them on a second machine over a LAN. I'm not having any success in getting them to connect with FSX at all. Server - desktop PC, FSX, W7 x64 Client - Laptop Vista x86 (driving one of these Saitek screens. This will not be the final client, just for testing) Both hard-wired over a LAN. Both machines can see each other/ ping each other with no problems. I've followed this guide to the letter. No joy. If nothing appears to happen, open Task Manager and check that SaiFlightSimX.exe is in the list of running Processes. If SimConnect cannot find or connect to the Server PC, SaiFlightSimX.exe will only run very briefly and will not display any gauges. This is what's happening to me. Tried with Firewalls off, FSX is a firewall exception, suggested port of 2001 is open on TCP and UDP on both machines. You may need to allow FSX to act as a server in the Firewall settings. Not entirely sure how to do that. Has anyone done this or similar who can work out where I'm going wrong? Thanks in advance. Stu MSMXV! placeholder. Charan Kumar Posted September 24, 2014 at 10:07 PM Posted September 24, 2014 at 10:07 PM One issue I have with Simconnect, altho not frequently, but enough to cause me concern, is the IPs keep changing, unless you have hard set IP in the netconfig. If the IP changes, then you are not going to be able to connect. There are a few methods to verify that simconnect works, all docomeented in simconnect itself, have you tried those to make sure simconnect works, as a first? I have a small script on my FSX machine that runs at startup showing the IP, if that shows change, I have to update the simconnect file on the other computer. PS. I don't have Saitek panels running on the non-fsx computer, but the above is true for all other programs I use. If you've got a router on your network that's providing DHCP services to [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ign IPs (who doesn't, these days?), it would probably save you the h[Mod - Happy Thoughts]le if you used DHCP reservations to keep your game computer(s) on the same IP (while simultaneously ensuring the router doesn't re-use that IP for other computers on the network).
