Board of Governors Roger Curtiss Posted October 23, 2014 at 04:26 AM Board of Governors Posted October 23, 2014 at 04:26 AM I have ben using my setup for quite some time with no problems...Win7/64 FSX/SP2/CH FSYoke/TQ/ProPedals. Up to now the only quirk was that every time I start FSX the hardware is not active until I unplug and replug the USB cable from the hub to the computer. As soon as I do that all hardware works just fine. Today, however, I was trying to fly the Aerosoft A319 and the throttle was not working properly. I went to the docomeentation and it suggested recalibrating flight controls as well as the FSUIPC calibration. None of these completely solved the problem and after restarting FSX I now have no action from any flight control hardware. The devices are recognized by Windows as connected and the Properties tag for each states each is working properly and when I go to Game Controllers their staus are all listed as OK. But when I go to Properties for each item and the Test tab there is no response from the hardware on the axes and they cannot be calibrated. I have restarted the computer and FSX a few times...same result. Not sure what else to try at this point Thanks for any tips Roger Curtiss VATGOV12 VP-Virtual Airlines & Special Ops r.curtiss(at)vatsim.net
Bradley Grafelman Posted October 23, 2014 at 08:17 PM Posted October 23, 2014 at 08:17 PM Have you tried plugging the hub into a different port? If possible, even a different set of ports. For example, try swapping from the front/back of the computer if applicable. Just to rule out any hub issues, have you tried plugging some of the controllers directly into your computer to see if the test pages in Windows show activity again? Finally, I don't know what sort of calibrations, button mappings, etc. you may or may not lose with this suggestion (guessing none), but... with all of the hardware plugged in and recognized by windows, have you tried "uninstalling" the hardware via Device Manager and then rebooting to let Windows pick it all back up? Board of Governors Roger Curtiss Posted October 24, 2014 at 05:47 PM Author Board of Governors Posted October 24, 2014 at 05:47 PM Plugging the hub into a different USB port did returm recognition of the controllers. The TQ is acting a bit squirrely but that is an axis [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ignment/calibration issue that I will work on. Thanks for the advice. Bradley Grafelman Posted October 24, 2014 at 06:02 PM Posted October 24, 2014 at 06:02 PM If it starts acting up again, try using Device Manager to examine the power and bandwidth usage on the USB Hub that the devices are connected to (Microsoft TechNet article here). Basically, you'd be looking for a port that is near or at its maximum power (guessing 500 mA - it'll tell you the max per port on the "Power" tab). I'd also be concerned if the Hub was operating at "low-speed" and/or was showing overall bandwidth utilization exceeding 80-90% at any time (see the "Advanced" tab for all of this).
