Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted November 5, 2014 at 06:28 PM Posted November 5, 2014 at 06:28 PM havent tried it yet but it just came to me lol. has anyone tried running vpilot networked from an ubuntu pc/laptop? i have ubuntu setup on my laptop and FS on my win7 desktop. was thinking of trying that. i installed simconnect and FSINN via wine to try and get FSINN working, but didnt work, no way to clear the ocx errors in FSINN i can find so far on this setup. will have to try and see if vpilot will run on it, just wondering if any others have tried. Ross Carlson Posted November 5, 2014 at 06:42 PM Posted November 5, 2014 at 06:42 PM vPilot itself should work fine as long as your wine install meets the full .NET framework requirements. Whether or not SimConnect itself will work, I have no idea. Certainly worth a shot. Antonio Palmieri Posted November 9, 2014 at 08:29 PM Posted November 9, 2014 at 08:29 PM Let me know how it goes. I run vPilot networked from my Macbook Air within a Win7 virtual machine and it works like a charm. It did take a while to get Simconnect and .NET all set up though. Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted November 14, 2014 at 04:31 AM Author Posted November 14, 2014 at 04:31 AM yea, it took over an hour to install oddly enough. will run it again, it probably didnt install correctly
Bradley Grafelman Posted November 15, 2014 at 11:11 PM Posted November 15, 2014 at 11:11 PM Try running "dxdiag.exe" and seeing if any errors are reported on any of the tabs?
Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted November 16, 2014 at 01:34 AM Author Posted November 16, 2014 at 01:34 AM couldnt get the directx download from the docs to run. so trying something different, from Wine i couldnt get dxdiag to come up so having it download and install directplay, directmusic, and dx9 from the wine collection. since vpilot requires the directx with the direct audio, hopefully those will do

Ross Carlson Posted November 16, 2014 at 03:46 AM Posted November 16, 2014 at 03:46 AM Yikes ... that error is being thrown within the .net framework itself. Are you sure you have the full framework installed? Developer: vPilot, VRC, vSTARS, vERAM, VAT-Spy Senior Controller, Boston Virtual ARTCC
Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted November 16, 2014 at 04:44 AM Author Posted November 16, 2014 at 04:44 AM yep shows 3.5 and 4.0 installed. will givem another whirl and see what happens edit, i see 3.5 SP1 isnt installed. that one a must? or 3.5 will do? if it needs SP1 then im outta luck, that one says its not compatible yet
Ross Carlson Posted November 16, 2014 at 05:18 PM Posted November 16, 2014 at 05:18 PM SP1 shouldn't be required, because the service packs don't introduce new functionality, they just fix bugs. And there is no way (that I know of) for an app to target a specific SP level. After doing a bit of Googling, I see that this is a fairly common error when running .net apps on Wine. I'm not seeing any concrete resolutions, though. This one post raises the question of whether or not the OP is running Mono on the system, because the ScrollToCaret() method is not implemented in Mono. Are you running Mono?
