John Richardson 961206 Posted March 11, 2006 at 05:49 PM Posted March 11, 2006 at 05:49 PM I am a newbie, the ATC are so very helpful. Each time I am in flight, FS crashes, it's so damned annoying. I have been with FS for 6 years but am new to multiplayer, please can you tell me why FS always crashes. Thanks in advance.
Scott Eastwood Posted March 11, 2006 at 06:43 PM Posted March 11, 2006 at 06:43 PM Hi John, Flight Sim can crash for hundreds if not thousands of reasons. If you could provide a litle background into your problem, i.e. scenario, add ons used, PC Specs, any error messages, etc, etc. Then maybe we can try to find a solution to your problem. Please do not be put off by Flight Sim crashing, it will be worth it in the end. Scott.

Richard Smith 960752 Posted April 13, 2006 at 03:23 AM Posted April 13, 2006 at 03:23 AM I have been experiencing the same probem. Wondering if it is related to the amount of available memory and the number of programs running on the system. I generally have Servinfo running along with FS9. If I am running it on a separate computer using WideFS I have not notice any crashes, but have noticed them if running Servinfo on the same computer. Not sure if there is a connection. But with all programs running the system memory is taxed.
Jeff Thomas Posted April 13, 2006 at 01:44 PM Posted April 13, 2006 at 01:44 PM There have been numerous causes for crashes. 1) Are you flying through one of the known scenery switch error areas? Sometimes when switching from one scenery to another or another texture (winter to spring etc), FS will crash. 2) Do you have the FS9 patch installed? 3) Do you get any events in the Event Viewer? Goto START | RUN then type eventvwr in the command box and hit enter. Look through the application log and system log for anything "funny"....i.e. big red flags Jeff Thomas VP-IT https://joinava.org

Steven Edwards 912878 Posted April 14, 2006 at 08:48 PM Posted April 14, 2006 at 08:48 PM April 14, 2006 Gentlemen: I have had the same problem. I am online in the virtual skies and FS2004 quits. How many times have I been on LAX radar screen and I suddenly disappear! The CPU seems to just cut out, even when the graphics are set to MINIMAL. It does not do that when I am not online; even when running graphics on HIGH. I have a 2.4 GHz Pentium 4, 1024 MB of RAM, a 160 GB Hard Drive and an Nnvidia GeForce 6600 GT with 128 MB of memory running on Windows XP Service Pack 2 (Home Edition). I shouldn't have any problems. Could it be that my TrendMicro Firewall settings be configured differently? BEYOND THAT WHAT IS NEEDED IS A TOOL THAT WE CAN PURCHASE OR DOWNLOAD THAT WILL EXAMINE AND CORRECT ANY MICROSOFT FS2004 (OR WHATEVER VERSION) AND/OR COMPUTER SETTINGS THAT ARE INTERFERING WITH OUR ONLINE PLAY. Any pointers would be appreciated!:D Steven L. Edwards Palm Springs, Ca. Email:[email protected]
Steven Perry Posted April 14, 2006 at 10:30 PM Posted April 14, 2006 at 10:30 PM I have a Realtek AC'97 Audio built into my motherboard. It caused NOTHING but problems in MSFS... the drivers supplied by the motherboard manufacturer caused stop errors with Windows and an immediate and unexpected reboot. The MS Windows signed drivers available through windows update didn't even allow the card to initialise. So... I disabled it and sprung for a $30 SB Audigy from a local store and so far no problems. Hope that helps for you, but make sure you can return your soundcard if that doesn't turn out to be the solution and you don't want it anymore.
