Wigram Classic Air Show - Christchurch New Zealand 25-26 Mar

On Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th March 2006, the Wigram Cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ic Air Show will be held at the Wigram Airfield, Christchurch, New Zealand, hosted by the Royal NZ Air Force Museum. For details, visit http://www.airforcemuseum.co.nz

 

On show on the day will be:

- Flying displays from RNZAF's own Red Checkers, Iroquois, Orion and Harvard *

- Over 30 military aircraft

- Over 200 cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ic cars and motorcycles

- Airforce Museum open at no extra charge

- Kiwi Blue parachute display *

- Exciting new interactive Pacific war experience (limited numbers)

- Creative kids' activities and much more...

As part of the Wigram Cl[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ic Air Show, the NZ FIR Group of VATPAC, sponsored by Flight Experience (http://www.flightexperience.co.nz) will be settling up a VATSIM display to show VATSIM to the world.

 

As most VATSIM people won't be able to make it "down under" to attend the site on the day, the guys will be online providing ATC throughout New Zealand. Why not show you support by jumping into your favourite aircraft and fly in or out of Christchurch or Wigram. Christchurch is the home of "Operation Deep Freeze" supporting missions to Antarctica and sees many flights daily, including all commercial jetliners and a number of international airlines.

 

They will be staffing the stand and the scope from 10:00 to 16:00 NZST each day. With NZ changing back to NZ Standard time next weekend, it means that they are UTC+12 hours, so it gives us good co-relation to their time zone so there's no good excuse not to fly.

 

So come on team, show your support of the Kiwis and join in the flyin on either, or both, days.

Yes there will be a full ATC centre at the Air Show.

I fly down under as much as anywhere else. Just usually not in that little island off the east coast
