Kevin Jarvis Posted November 25, 2014 at 01:06 AM Posted November 25, 2014 at 01:06 AM Is there any way to add vPilot to a tablet, as one might with another computer?
Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted November 25, 2014 at 01:16 AM Posted November 25, 2014 at 01:16 AM windows tablet might be able to run it just fine. i think accessing the ports might be an issue, not sure about that. it also needs simconnect to be installed on the tablet if thats possible
Kevin Jarvis Posted November 25, 2014 at 01:27 AM Author Posted November 25, 2014 at 01:27 AM I'm in the process of moving files to my Android tablet that is hooked to the pc via USB cable. Hopefully simconnect will work with this set up. I'll let you know.
Kevin Jarvis Posted November 25, 2014 at 02:29 AM Author Posted November 25, 2014 at 02:29 AM I have been successful in getting vPilot to run from my Android tablet. I did a radio check with live ATC to confirm that it works. The problem I have is that I must activate from Explorer on my PC as I have not yet found a way to activate it on the tablet itself. At this time, there is no advantage to using the tablet unless I can start vPilot on it.
Ross Carlson Posted November 25, 2014 at 03:54 AM Posted November 25, 2014 at 03:54 AM What do you mean when you say you were able to run it from your Android tablet but that you must activate from Explorer on your PC? Kevin Jarvis Posted November 27, 2014 at 12:22 AM Author Posted November 27, 2014 at 12:22 AM I'm unable to find a way to start vPilot on the tablet. But I can access the file folder, on the tablet, by using Explorer on my PC. I'm able to start vPilot, and the interface shows up on my PC. Miguel Frias Posted November 27, 2014 at 01:42 PM Posted November 27, 2014 at 01:42 PM I believe there is a bit of lack of knowledge here. vPilot, Squawkbox or FSInn are WINDOWS executables that can only be run on a Windows operating system or its emulation. Android is a totally different operating system which cannot run .EXE files, which are executable in windows only. Now what Android can do is store the executable file and if you then use Windows to access the data directory of the Android tablet, then you can run the executable. Just like if you were using a USB pen or other external storage.
