Gunnar Horrigmo Posted March 18, 2006 at 02:01 PM Posted March 18, 2006 at 02:01 PM ok, im about to try my first flight on VATSIM. i know what i need to say etc, only problem is im not sure where to put the frequency? im guessing i dont put it in the normal radio stack. you're guessing wrong. that is indeed where you dial them in. Im using FSinn. Also where abouts do i put me squawk code? same thing. enter it in the normal transponder. but keep in mind that the default transponder in FS9 won't let you change squawk modes. I picked up Philipp Stein's Bendix King KT76c transponder at avsim (filename: bendixking.zip) and use it as a drop-in replacement (mounted in the panels), and I must say it works excellently. let's you squawk mode STBY, C, ALT and ident, and it has a user configurable VFR squawk. highly recommended. Sorry for the really easy questions.... easy questions are cool. --Gunnar
Adam Walker Posted March 18, 2006 at 03:39 PM Author Posted March 18, 2006 at 03:39 PM (edited) thanks for the help Just thought of another question.... so if im flying through unmanned ATC airspace, how do i know when to change frequency as there is no ATC to tell me. I will get the hang of this VATSIM thing one day!!! Edited March 18, 2006 at 06:57 PM by Guest Adam Walker
Norman Blackburn Posted March 18, 2006 at 06:20 PM Posted March 18, 2006 at 06:20 PM If a position is manned you will get a text message saying "contact me 123.45" Simply tune to that frequency and call them - no need to send a reply by text.
