Joshua Long 1319279 Posted March 31, 2015 at 02:27 PM Posted March 31, 2015 at 02:27 PM Hi all, Just started flying with Vatsim again after many years away - It's fantastic to be back! I'm just looking for a quick clarification regarding top down controlling. The other evening the only controller available was LON_CTR. I was taking off from Bristol (EGGD) and then flying south. When I looked up the boundaries, EGGD seems to be controlled by London Control when no other stations are active. Does this mean I am able to call them for clearance/departure etc. from Bristol? Or just when airborne? Here's the link with the area sectors: http://www.vatsim-uk.co.uk/area-sectors/ Many thanks for your time, Joshua
Michael Pike Posted March 31, 2015 at 02:51 PM Posted March 31, 2015 at 02:51 PM Yes. Top down means LON_CTR covers all ATC positions in the London FIR. However, controller workload and frequency congestion can make that impossible at times. Mike Pike VATSIM-UK
