Joshua Cullen 1318706 Posted June 28, 2015 at 06:24 PM Posted June 28, 2015 at 06:24 PM (edited) Hey everyone, I have everything i need for VATSIM (scenery, routes to do, headset, planes and how to use them etc.), i could start right now if i wanted to, but there is one more thing i'd like to get - a joystick/flight controller, i already have 2 ideas but i was wondering if you guys could help with which one i should get (as i've heard a lot of advantages and disadvantages about them). Ideas: - Cyborg F.L.Y. 5 (apparently buttons can fall off within hours?) - Saitek X52 Pro (maybe a bit expensive but if that radio comms display works then it could be very useful and worth the money) Thanks for the help, Joshua Cullen Edited June 28, 2015 at 06:33 PM by Guest
Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted June 28, 2015 at 06:44 PM Posted June 28, 2015 at 06:44 PM if you want a good cheap one, my personal favorite is the Logitech Wingman extreme. only around $20. mine lasted over 10 years before i had to replace it. thousands of hours on it by the time it was replaced initially replaced it with a temporary stick, Cyborg Graphite which i got on ebay for cheap. it was ok, a little uncomfortable sometimes. then i decided to go with a yoke. the usual options are the CH yokes, or Saitek. i went with CH simply because i found it on ebay when i needed it. Saiteks very good as well. dont forget the rudder pedals, although can be optional if you use auto rudder or get a joystick with twist axis (logitech extreme has this)
Board of Governors Don Desfosse Posted June 28, 2015 at 07:46 PM Board of Governors Posted June 28, 2015 at 07:46 PM I own both the Saitek Pro Flight (PZ44) ($131 US with free shipping on Walmart http://www.walmart.com/ip/Saitek-PZ44-Pro-Flight-Yoke-System-Game-Controller-PC-Gaming/8304651) and the Mad Catz/Cyborg F.L.Y.5 ($50 US on eBay shipped (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mad-Catz-F-L-Y-5-Flight-Stick-/171824188776?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item2801850d68) or $60 on Amazon with free shipping) and like them both for different reasons/types of flights. I do most of my online flying in jet airliners and prefer the Saitek Pro Flight for that and most GA flying. In fighters and some jets/props that use a stick, I use the F.L.Y 5 They are both good products and I like them both. I never had an issue with any buttons or anything falling off either. If I had to pick one over the other, I'd go with the Saitek Pro Flight system because it suits the style of flying I do most of better.
