I notice a new "VA [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ociate Program" tab has appeared at http://vasops.vatsim.net/ Could anyone shed some light about this; is it just a rebranding of the existing VA Partner scheme or something new ?

Hello Christoph,

thanks putting for your question in the forum. I hope I can give you a satisfying answer.

From month to month we receive many applications from VAs which cannot be accepted as a Partner Airline.

The "VA [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ociate Program" - which is currently not active - is designed for brand new Virtual Airlines which do not meet the minimum requirements to be granted as an official VATSIM Partner Airline at the time of registration, mostly because of not having enough active members flying on VATSIM.

As a VA Manager, you will know how hard it can be to find new members. In comparison with established VAs, smaller and newer VAs often struggle with the requirements to keep the "Partner VA Status". As a possibility from VATSIM VA&SO Administration, we decided to initiate this program to help them in becoming better known and finding new members easier.

These VAs will be shown in this list for a limited time only which means they will be remove after a specific period if they still do not meet the minimum Partner Airlines requirements.

Do you want your Virtual Airline to become an official partner on VATSIM or to participate in the VAA Program?

Thanks for clarifying that Tim, it's a great idea, especially given how many VA's don't last more than 6 months. However, I am concerned that users may get the two schemes confused because it's not immediately apparent which is the senior programme. Perhaps it would be better to have different levels within the existing VA Partners programme. For example:

• Bronze - over 10 pilots

• Silver - over 1 year and 20 pilots

• Gold - over 2 years, 20 pilots and ATO status

or something similar. Or maybe a simple "probationary" status instead for 6 or 12 months?
