Alan Mallows Posted October 22, 2015 at 08:33 AM Posted October 22, 2015 at 08:33 AM Hi all, I'm running FSX in Win 8.1 and it takes over a minute to open. If I have the Task Manager running it shows that FSX is "not responding" for most of that time. Does anyone know what is going on here, and if it can be fixed? Thanks VH-DUX VH-DUX
Evan Reiter Posted October 22, 2015 at 05:06 PM Posted October 22, 2015 at 05:06 PM This is not uncommon. I'd say most users' simulators take between 20-60 seconds to load. If you have a large number of add-ons that get initiated when FSX does, including a large library of aircraft, then it can take longer. As far as I know, there's no issue with FSX taking a minute or so to boot. Just let it do its thing until you see the main screen has loaded. Alan Mallows Posted October 23, 2015 at 07:22 AM Author Posted October 23, 2015 at 07:22 AM Thanks. I suspected that there may be something else keeping fsx waiting. I hope to get an SSD for Christmas. That should help. VH-DUX VH-DUX
Board of Governors Don Desfosse Posted October 23, 2015 at 12:16 PM Board of Governors Posted October 23, 2015 at 12:16 PM It helps for sure. Dramatically reduced my load time. Unfortunately I have so much add on [stuff] that my FSX takes average 4.5 minutes to load, even with an SSD Don Desfosse Vice President, Operations
