Controller Email

Hello everyone,

 

Is there any data service available on VATSIM that would allow me to retrieve a controller's full email from their CID? I know that this is possible through SSO, however, they need to be logged in. My goal with this is to keep our division roster current with our website's roster by automatically adding controllers to our website's controller database.

If you have auto tools access, you'll be able to validate a given email address (you'll need to speak with Kieran to find out how to do this).

 

You can then check the emails that haven't been verified for a while (1 month, etc) and then do something with that information, but there's no way of just getting an email from a CID yet (I can live in hope!)

I may be wrong but I thought Autotools was retired? It wasn't a particularly secure system.

 

I would suggest that if you need email addresses, that you solicit them directly. Opt in is generally a nicer policy.

You can get a partial email (domain).

But Blake is in Seattle ARTCC... EUD doesn't have the emails of anyone in VATUSA, only those deployed to the VATEUD division.

The API already exists (or did exist when I was staff) for VATUSA.

You'll need auto-tools access. VP Membership is the one to contact, I think.

Surely for forms, SSO is the way to go? We have already written multiple examples of that kind of code in our division!
