Roberto Stopnicki Posted February 14, 2016 at 05:59 PM Posted February 14, 2016 at 05:59 PM Hello all: I recently changed my main system drive. Yesterday was my first flight on VATSIM and I kept getting repeated "Network error: P[Mod - Happy Thoughts] error ..." messages. The simulation, communication and connection continued without problems, but I am concerned. I run FSX Acceleration on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. I run WideFS on a connected PC. An example of a message is: ("time of message: i.e. 21:02:24) Network error: P[Mod - Happy Thoughts] Error: (Raw packet: N:N157SK:1200:1:41.52096:nan:0:2444:-626) Any advice is greatly appreciated. Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted February 14, 2016 at 07:07 PM Posted February 14, 2016 at 07:07 PM if you are trying to run vpilot on a networked setup via widefs, it doesnt require this. just has to be done through simconnect

Richard Walsh Posted February 14, 2016 at 08:16 PM Posted February 14, 2016 at 08:16 PM It is a known issue. The new beta version fixes this by simply not having them appear in the text box. If I understand the explanation Ross gave these are harmless. They are annoying but harmless.
Ross Carlson Posted February 14, 2016 at 09:55 PM Posted February 14, 2016 at 09:55 PM Yes, those messages can be ignored. They are a result of malformed data packets being generated by another pilot's copy of vPilot. Ernesto Alvarez 818262 Posted February 25, 2016 at 04:59 AM Posted February 25, 2016 at 04:59 AM Ross could this also be possibly caused by Xsquawkbox users? ive noticed lately the warning come up and i check whos around. usually from the flightplan remarks, it shows they are using xsquawkbox
Ross Carlson Posted February 25, 2016 at 05:07 AM Posted February 25, 2016 at 05:07 AM You can see who's sending the erroneous packet by looking at the second field of the packet. From the example above: "Network error: P[Mod - Happy Thoughts] Error: (Raw packet: N:N157SK:1200:1:41.52096:nan:0:2444:-626)" The pilot that sent the erroneous packet has the callsign "N157SK". It isn't always someone nearby, in fact it's usually not. In short, no, I think it's only vPilot that has this bug.
