I don't have any recent code, but you need to read the data files (start from status.vatsim.net and fetcha random data file), then generate the stats you need from there.. (for users over 24 hours you may probably need something more).

Some time ago i think i even released some code here in the forums, have you tried looking at older posts?

Hi Luca and thank you for the reply. I have come across a couple of posts in the forum but I dont understand them. I am not a real coder as such lol. I just modify templates. The 24 hour is not important if it would cause a problem

I have come across this https://stats.vatsim.net/user_count_json.php which seems to give the information but I do not know how to populate a table with it. I have googled and tried some examples but my lack of knowledge is proving a real hurdle

So that's the one that you'll have found looking through the .net source code, but isn't a public endpoint (hence the access control headers). Therefore I wouldn't base code on it as you've no guarantee that it'll be there and you'll remain having access.

As Luca says, public data about the network comes through the datafeed. If you're not able to work with some of the existing libs that do the heavy lifting for you and you really want this data on your site, then I'd suggest you need someone to do this for you, not just a code snippet.
