Hot mic

I keep getting a hot mic, by controllers as soon as I log on. I can't seem to fix it. No matter the setting on pc or XSB. I'm guessing there's ambient noise that's coming through to the controllers? I don't see how when the room I'm in is very quite and the playback is normal on the calibration test. Any ideas?

I have no clue what is going on. When I'm on p3d I never have a problem. It's only on XSB so I'm not sure what to do about it. This is a fresh install of XPL . I've posted this in a few other forums with no solutions in site. This is my last stop before I give up. I just did another calibration test the squelch is pretty low. Is there a certain range the squelch should be in to eliminate any problems?

Thanks,

Richard

Hi Richard,

Hopefully you are running the latest version of XSB ? ie v1.3.1 and X-Plane 10.45

There were problems in the past with 64bit static noise with versions before v1.3.0.

In the plugins menu XSquawkBox/Preferences there are three critical settings (the top three)

1. Push to talk key.

2. Push to talk button.

3. Show Mic-Open Icon.

If you set option 3 to any value other than none, you will see a red "T" when transmitting in the corner of the screen you have selected.

The push to talk key by default is ` which is above the left tab key.

It is possible you have double mapped the button or key.

ie go to menu settings/joystick & equipment then tab Buttons: Basic

Make sure when you push your push to talk button that it is mapped to "Do nothing at all".

Click on the Keys tab.

Make sure you have not used a key being used for some other function. The default ` is usually safe.

This is the only thing that can cause an open mic.

At least if you see a red "T" you know the mic is open & can try to solve.

If there is no red "T" then you are not transmitting.

Cheers,

Duncan
