Good day pilots & ATC’s – Welcome to our third Bi-weekly Newsletter, packed with information, news and plenty of exclusive content for & from the ACCNAF community.

First off, let us welcome this Month’s new members of our vACC:

- Peter Palfi

- Adam Bennis

- The many others who are now members of our facebook page

You are now part of a very dynamic group of p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ionate people about aviation. By now you must have already received a welcome email with instructions on how you can interact with us. We look forward to seeing you in the skies with us.

Secondly, we wanted to introduce you to a peculiar (yet amazing) article regarding the world’s shortest flights: http://edition.cnn.com/2016/10/31/aviation/world-shortest-air-routes/. Excellent read where you discover than one of the shortest operated route is actually flown in the northern part of our region between Tangier (GMTT) and Gibralter (LXGB). You can try it with our partner VA (virtual airline) Royal Air Maroc Virtual http://www.royalairmarocvirtual.com that operates it with an ATR72.

Our Third topic is about keeping your Navigation Data tidy. This is a general recommendation that helps you fly proper air ways as opposed to use outdated simulator data. We recommend you invest in proper Navigation tools like Navigraph or Navdatapro from Aerosoft. They are both regularly updated and help you keep your sim routes fresh.

We also encourage you to visit http://www.aero.sors.fr/ and update your system. There are free tools in this website that can help you have Navigation data aligned with current AIRAC.

And when departing or arriving somewhere and you have no clue what runway to use? Start by checking the METAR. Most recent meteorogical conditions is a must-have information for any pilot. Then visit here http://activerunway.net/runway.html , input the wind direction and the runways available and this website will help you make up your mind and decide from where you should take off or where you should land.

Finally, a reminder our training capabilities that are available for free. For ATC training, please liaise with Omar Ait Taleb by email [email protected] | For Pilot training, you can familiarize yourself with VATSIM’s pilot ratings here but it is critically important that Pilots in our region get the fair and appropriate recognition of their skills. Therefore we strongly encourage everyone to take on steps towards pilot certification. It is your best proof of knowledge and a recognition by every one of your ability and proficiency to fly. For that purpose, you are invited to join our training partner on this website http://www.vatameptd.co.za

All for this week. Thanks for reading. Any feedback, ideas, suggestions, please contact me on [email protected].
