I have been keen to apply as a visiting controller in Taiwan for quite a while now, having submitted 2 applications on the website, and there has been no reply whatsoever. It has been more than a year now since the first application and the most recent in a few months. There have been quite a number of pilots asking if I can control in Taiwan since there is indeed quite some traffic and a personal favourite place to be in real life and I am known to some pilots to control a number of places, if there is no further reply, I can safely [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ume that it is no longer active and I can log on as I like in accordance to my rating? A bit of additional information, I am able to speak fluent Mandarin.

I am not sure how active they are right now but I can tell you speaking Mandarin is mandatory to be a visiting controller in Taiwan. I have given you a PM with the contact details of Division Director hope this helps.

Thanks a lot! I cannot remember if i have emailed him before as I have a recollection of an email going unanswered as well, but I'll try nevertheless. I'm ethnic Chinese, with Mandarin being my mother tongue so that is definitely not an issue for me

I cannot seem to find the email that I sent to, but I have applied twice through their website. I just noticed that they seem to have just undergo a restructuring, will follow their updated procedures and try again, see if they get me. Thanks a lot!

Playing the devil's advocate: if local VACCs are not able to operate regularly and offer training, shouldn't the airspace not be made "open" so visiting and rated controllers could staff appropriate position freely? Better "untrained" ATC than no ATC at all.
