Jon Cottle 1075043 Posted January 7, 2017 at 03:44 PM Posted January 7, 2017 at 03:44 PM Hi all, Firstly, thanks so much for the continued developement of vPilot. I'm just encountering a small problem with automatic scan for aircraft feature when switching to P3D. At the end of the scan once the green bar is full and all aircraft have been found, the program freezes, and doesn't arrive at the 'complete' stage. With FSX it worked perfectly, but for some reason the P3D scan doesn't want to finish it's job! Anyone know if there's a particular reason for this, or if the question has already been answered in another thread. Many thanks in advance, Jon
Ross Carlson Posted January 8, 2017 at 03:32 AM Posted January 8, 2017 at 03:32 AM That's very strange ... I can't think of any reason why the model scan would lock up. What add-on aircraft do you have? Which AI traffic packages do you have, if any? Jon Cottle 1075043 Posted February 20, 2017 at 10:57 AM Author Posted February 20, 2017 at 10:57 AM Hey - apologies for not replying sooner. I haven't had a moment to fly for a while. From memory I have the Airbus x and majestic dash 8 and nothing else in P3D (which I also have installed in FSX) As for traffic packages, I have the WoAI and IVAO models downloaded, but exactly in the same place in P3D as they are in FSX. Tried it a couple of times since writing my original post, but the same thing happens. Anyone else had the same problem? Jon
Ross Carlson Posted February 21, 2017 at 12:53 AM Posted February 21, 2017 at 12:53 AM Jon, when it locks up, is vPilot using a lot of CPU? Developer: vPilot, VRC, vSTARS, vERAM, VAT-Spy Senior Controller, Boston Virtual ARTCC
Jon Cottle 1075043 Posted February 24, 2017 at 12:50 PM Author Posted February 24, 2017 at 12:50 PM Hi Ross So just updated to the newest version. Upon restart it scanned the FSX aircraft no problem, but yes, the cpu went up to between 20% - 30%. Is that high? Then the same problem (i.e. freezing at the end of scan) occurred when trying to scan for models in P3D, with CPU staying at that same high level. Ross Carlson Posted February 24, 2017 at 02:27 PM Posted February 24, 2017 at 02:27 PM Any amount of CPU usage when vPilot isn't doing anything is high. Sounds like maybe it is getting stuck in a loop. I'll take a look at the model scanning code and see if I can determine how that might happen and get back to you. Ross Carlson Posted February 26, 2017 at 02:42 AM Posted February 26, 2017 at 02:42 AM Jon, I just built a version of vPilot which adds some debugging message popups at the end of the model scan process. This will help me understand where it is locking up for you. You can download it here: http://vpilot.metacraft.com/[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ets/Files/Installers/vPilot-Setup-2.1.2.1.exe After installing that version, run a model scan, and when it gets to the end, it should show a series of popups which you'll have to acknowledge before it continues with each step. Let me know which steps it gets through before it locks up. Thanks.
