Dennis Bergen Posted January 21, 2017 at 08:34 PM Posted January 21, 2017 at 08:34 PM Hi. I'm trying to get back to controlling and need to ask questions so here we are. Which keys do you use for your push to talk keys? I'm just trying to wrap my head around both the primary and secondary. Headset with mic as the primary and desk mic and speakers as secondary. I'm interested in CANScope / EuroScope but curious with the VRC and others if people wish to comment on them as well. Been tossing around the idea of Left Control for primary and Right Control for secondary. Thank you for your time. Edit: Maybe I screwed this up. I'm looking to have different keys so one for controlling and another to talk with other controllers in CANScope or TeamSpeak. Clear as mud? Andrew Ogden Posted January 21, 2017 at 10:08 PM Posted January 21, 2017 at 10:08 PM For EuroScope PTT's I have Left Control as primary and Num + as secondary. For TeamSpeak I use Left Alt, as it is the most practical to reach. Dennis Bergen Posted January 21, 2017 at 10:44 PM Author Posted January 21, 2017 at 10:44 PM Thanks Andrew. Just to be clear, the Num +, you mention, is the +on the Numbers Pad and not the + on the += button? Dennis Bergen
Andrew Ogden Posted January 22, 2017 at 02:15 AM Posted January 22, 2017 at 02:15 AM Thanks Andrew. Just to be clear, the Num +, you mention, is the +on the Numbers Pad and not the + on the += button? Yes, it is the Numpad +, on top of the Enter/Return key. Also, if you dont want to type lots of +'s, then turn NumLock off. Thimo Koolen Posted January 23, 2017 at 10:34 AM Posted January 23, 2017 at 10:34 AM What's the use for the secundairy PTT? Just curious. I use RIGHT CTRL for Euroscope and LEFT CTRL for Teamspeak. ACCNL4 (Training Director) - Dutch VACC
Andrew Ogden Posted January 23, 2017 at 09:29 PM Posted January 23, 2017 at 09:29 PM What's the use for the secundairy PTT? Just curious. Ahh, a commonly asked question. It is used for the Intercom feature between controllers within Euroscope, Rightclick on controllers name> Intercom. It calls the controller and you can speak to a controller through EuroScope using your Secondary PTT Andrew Ogden Gander Oceanic OCA Chief Vancouver FIR Senior Instructor Visit us: https://ganderoceanic.ca Contact: [email protected]
Magnus Meese Posted January 23, 2017 at 11:41 PM Posted January 23, 2017 at 11:41 PM For EuroScope PTT's I have Left Control as primary and Num + as secondary. For TeamSpeak I use Left Alt, as it is the most practical to reach. Hm, I wouldn't recommend people to swap out the default ASEL key (num+) as their first step into controlling, perhaps. My Norwegian keyboard has a handy key for the >< signs between Z and left shift, perfect for PTT.

Is that for EuroScope or VRC? I use EuroScope with New Zealand profiling and plugins, so my Num+ is very handy as it is as far away from the rest of the PTT's as possible and it doesnt conflict with any other buttons. Michael Pike Posted January 25, 2017 at 01:11 AM Posted January 25, 2017 at 01:11 AM The secondary PTT key is also used if you are simulating pilots in a Euroscope scenario for controller training on sweatbox (unless you set Primary frequency).
