Peter Staras 1182814 Posted January 26, 2017 at 07:49 PM Posted January 26, 2017 at 07:49 PM Hello. I am planning a flight from EGKK to EHAM. Naturally I can see what ATC is available at Gatwick when I connect to VATSIM, but how do I find out what ATC will be available as I approach Amsterdam? Sorry if it is a dumb question. Any many thanks for any help.
Sean Harrison Posted January 26, 2017 at 08:28 PM Posted January 26, 2017 at 08:28 PM (edited) Generally if there is full ATC coverage for the whole route, they will hand you over at each change. However it's probably a good idea to have a who's online app/program that way you can see who is around. Stand-a-lone windows programs Vatspy http://www1.metacraft.com/VATSpy/ Servinfo https://library.avsim.net/index.php Search for ServInfo Dolomynum (thanks Don) http://files.fsnordic.net/Flight_Simulator/Online_Flying/ QuteScoop https://sourceforge.net/projects/qutescoop/ vRoute http://www.vroute.net/content/view/79/52/ Web based Vatsim who's online (access from vatsim main page) Vattastic http://www.vattastic.com/ VatView http://vatview.com/vatview.php Apple os available in iTunes Vatfrance Vroute VatMap Updated with links, and corrected spelling. Peter Staras 1182814 Posted January 26, 2017 at 08:46 PM Author Posted January 26, 2017 at 08:46 PM That's most helpful. Thank you. I was not sure how you would know if there was full or part ATC coverage so your suggestions should give me that information.
Joseph Jucha 1343412 Posted January 26, 2017 at 11:33 PM Posted January 26, 2017 at 11:33 PM vPilot , one of the clients for connecting to the network, would show you what controllers and the positions that are in range as you fly along. The downside is even though they are in range, you may not be entering thier airspace. But it is nice that the freq ,if you need it, is right there. Good luck and have fun! I got to the door!
