Justin Shannon Posted February 5, 2017 at 10:25 PM Posted February 5, 2017 at 10:25 PM I have a hunch it's because the network servers aren't being cached for some reason... Each time I launch vSTARS, it says there was an error downloading the server list. It's not being blocked in my firewall either. See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: InvalidArgument=Value of '0' is not valid for 'SelectedIndex'. Ross Carlson Posted February 6, 2017 at 03:18 AM Posted February 6, 2017 at 03:18 AM Can you have a look at your vSTARSConfig.xml file (in the same folder as the EXE) and see if it lists any saved servers? Justin Shannon Posted February 6, 2017 at 03:43 AM Author Posted February 6, 2017 at 03:43 AM CachedServers element is empty. Not sure if this will be of any help, but here's the NetworkStatusURL value: <NetworkStatusURL>QV3c4DoqB1Y=</NetworkStatusURL> It seems shorter than what your other apps (vERAM, vPilot) have in their respected config file: <NetworkStatusURL>pZ9u441bE4a2NCGgqMxKNvwAIy0qEA+AwXB8c3sV90c=</NetworkStatusURL> I've tried reinstalling vSTARS with an empty config file, but still no luck. Ross Carlson Posted February 6, 2017 at 04:01 AM Posted February 6, 2017 at 04:01 AM The empty config file prevents the crash though, right? Developer: vPilot, VRC, vSTARS, vERAM, VAT-Spy Senior Controller, Boston Virtual ARTCC
Justin Shannon Posted February 6, 2017 at 04:05 AM Author Posted February 6, 2017 at 04:05 AM No. If I delete the config file, launch vSTARS (it throws its "error downloading server list" dialog), import and load a facility, it'll still throw the unhandled exception when attempting to launch the settings dialog (ctrl + s). Ross Carlson Posted February 11, 2017 at 06:37 AM Posted February 11, 2017 at 06:37 AM After you install the empty config file, does it contain some cached servers? Justin Shannon Posted February 12, 2017 at 01:35 AM Author Posted February 12, 2017 at 01:35 AM If by "install" you mean delete and let vSTARS generate a new one, no it does not populate the cached servers. The only way I've been able to get around it was to copy the obfuscated server list URL and cached servers from the vERAM config to the vSTARS config. Ross Carlson Posted February 12, 2017 at 01:37 AM Posted February 12, 2017 at 01:37 AM No, I mean install it from the installer. There is an option in the installer to install an empty config file with no profiles. That config file will have a starting list of servers. Ross Carlson Posted February 12, 2017 at 01:42 AM Posted February 12, 2017 at 01:42 AM Note that deleting your config file will definitely not work because it won't have the "status URL" to download servers from. If you copied the status URL from vERAM, that should allow you to download new servers. If you're still getting the error, then something is blocking the HTTP request. Justin Shannon Posted February 12, 2017 at 01:44 AM Author Posted February 12, 2017 at 01:44 AM Well now I'm stumped. I just uninstalled and removed all vSTARS files and installed the latest non-beta version then upgraded to the 1.1 beta with no issues. I'm not sure what caused it the first time... I'll keep trying to reproduce it for you, though. But to answer your last post, yes I copied both the status URL and the cached servers from the vERAM config when I first got the error.
