Is something up with the status data? http://status.vatsim.net is now redirecting to the pilot academy site.

It only seems to be doing that from Chrome for me ... works fine in IE and with wget on the command line.

It looks like the issue is only present over HTTPS. Since HSTS is enabled, if you've previously visited the site via HTTPS in that browser (if the browser supports HSTS), you'll be forced to use HTTPS even when attempting to connect to the HTTP version.

We're aware that there's an issue with the configuration of status.vatsim.net, affecting HTTPS only, so most programs that use the datafeed should still be working correctly. This may not be apparent in a browser due to HSTS, as Neil already explained.

FYI, if anyone using Chrome is annoyed by this, you can reset that domain's HSTS status by doing the following:

  1. Copy and paste the following URL into the address bar of a Chrome tab:
    chrome://net-internals/#hsts

  2. Type "status.vatsim.net" (without quotes) into the Domain box under Delete domain
  3. Click the Delete button

Visiting http://status.vatsim.net should now work in Chrome for you.
