Hi,

First of all, I am new to Vatsim, trying to work my way through all the pages and docomeentations. So I'm sorry if I missed something. I'm used to the IVAO structure.

I'm trying to apply for a training via vateud. However i got the following e-mail:

We received your application for the VATEUD PTD. You’re already a VATEUD member however there is required one last step before we can continue to the theoretical examination.

In order you can make the theoretical test via the ATSimTest web based platform you must be [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned into a vACC (Virtual Area Control Center). vACC’s normally reflect in some way your nationality as there are organized [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ociations for each country that have studying materials, docomeentations and most important members from your country that will certainly help you creating a sense of community.

We suggest visiting this link for informations about European vACC’s: http://api.vateud.net/subdivisions. You will probably find more information about the registration process in the respective vACC’s webpages

However that Link (to an API?) doesn't work, so I don't know how I'm supposed to reach that. If you don't mind me saying it is not very user friendly, given that the training is for first time VATSIM pilots..

Any help would be appreciated!

Sincerely,

Mark

The link you have is to the user-interface of the API. At the current time, the API is working perfectly. Another visualization of this API is available on the main VATEUD website.

Kind Regards,

Kieran Cross,

Thank you for that information! I have been looking at using the API, but I frankly don't understand how. So I guess my Squawk needs to be set at 2700-2777. Where can I update that information?

Thank you again!

Squawk codes are [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned by local ATC, whilst you're not under control, it doesn't really matter what you squawk. It's common to squawk 2000 whilst not under control, as per ICAO rules. You can read more about this at the pilot resource centre.

Kieran Cross,

I think we are experiencing some miscommunication. I know how it works when flying. The website I was referring to seems you need to add a virtual squawk code to your profile for the designation of your division / area.

The site you refer to is the VATEUD API. VATEUD [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ign different squawk ranges (eg 5300-5307 for Ljubljana FIR), for the ATCos to provide to their traffic. As a controller, I may [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ign you a squawk code from the appropriate range.

As a pilot, you'll never stay on the same squawk code, between flights and controllers, you'll be given a different one. When you are given a different one, you'll be asked to squawk XXXX. To do this, you'd change it in your flight simulator's radio panel (in a Cessna 172, and most aircraft, this is somewhere in the center of the aircraft). Alternatively, you can change the code from your client. If you use vPilot to connect, you can use .squawk XXXX to change the code.

Squawk codes are, in VATSIM, used only for the tracking of aircraft by ATCos. If you are not flying under a controller's supervision, you'd not be expected to squawk anything specific.

You refer to the joining of a vACC. Within VATEUD, this is done by e-mailing the membership department of VATEUD. The e-mail address for this is [email protected] and the contact's name Miguel Frias.

Kind Regards,

Kieran Cross,

Hi Mark,

Just to make sure, you want the get the pilot training or the ATC training?

If you want the pilot training, there are a lot of VA's and vACC's that are allowed to give you the pilot training.

If you want the ATC training, just make contact to your local vACC's training department to get started.

Again, I know how squawk codes work. No need to explain that.

I'm purely looking at that websites which, together with the e-mail, seems to suggest I need to show my location by putting in a code on my profile.

I received that email from VATEUD after applying for a pilot training 1. Just to get the roots of Vatsim.

No, you don't need to put in these codes anywhere.

Send me an e-mail morten.jelle(at)vateud.net, and I'll help you further.

Hi Morten,

Thank you for your offer, I will just stay with my VA for training and initial setup. That seems a little bit more straightforward then to do everything with VATEUD.

I would like it if you can explain the e-mail I received, and how a Vatsim newbie like myself should interpret that. And with that I mean, how can I [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ign myself a vACC (Virtual Area Control Center).

Thank you in advance.

Mark

You cannot [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ign a vACC to yourself, instead you must make contact with the membership department of VATEUD to request that you be made a member of your chosen vACC. Once you choose a vACC (eg France vACC), you'd send a simple e-mail off to request that you be moved to that specific vACC.

Each country (or groups of them) have a overhead vACC which manages everything to do with that airspace. It manages controller training, events, and sometimes pilot training. It's common, to be a member of your own country, in that if you live in France, you might decide to be a member of vACC France. This isn't a rule, it's just a common thing - you'll often see foreign members in different vACCs.

We suggest visiting this link for informations about European vACC’s: http://api.vateud.net/subdivisions. You will probably find more information about the registration process in the respective vACC’s webpages

On the webpage given, VATEUD lists all the vACCs that are active within the Europe Division. The link contains info, and quick links to the vACC's website, and the data held in the VATEUD API about that vACC.

To choose a vACC, once again, you'd just choose one out of that list (it doesn't matter about official status), and send your request to the VATEUD membership department.

As Kieran said, it is quite simple. Just e-mail members(at)vateud.net and let them know what vACC you would like to be [Mod - Happy Thoughts]igned to.
