Which version of FSX are you using, and what is the registry key that you checked?

i checked the SetupPath to see it matches my fsx installation location

Hrm ... this is where vPilot expects to find it:

SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0

It looks for that path under both HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_LOCAL_USER

Within that path, it looks for any of the following keys:

"AppPath", "SetupPath", "install_path"

Brian, did you manually move the FSX folder after installation?

I uninstalled the box version last year and have used vpilot alot since then with no problem. I've not moved my steam version anywhere. I have only updated vpilot when there has been an update. Between now and the last time I flew using vpilot I haven't changed anything :/

You're saying you were using vPilot with the steam edition before and all of a sudden it's not finding it any more?

When it worked before, was that with vPilot version 2 or version 1?

It worked with version 2 but it popped up with an update when I tried to use it so updated it and when it loaded up it said search which sim you would like to use with vpilot and it only gave me the option to use one of the 2 p3d to highlight :/

So, did you use the second tool I linked to? If so did you run it as admin?

The pic only shows vPilot that I can see.

When you ran the FSXReg Utility click on the Set Path tab. Browse to the FSX root folder. The click set fsx path.

OK, lets click on the set path tab. Browse to where your fsx is. Click on "Set Registry Path"

Using a registry fixer isn't going to work unless it is designed to work with the Steam Edition. The registry entry is only one piece of the puzzle. vPilot also needs to be able to find the FSX configuration file, since that file stores all the paths to where your aircraft models are installed. The registry fixer is setting your registry entry such that it looks like you're using the original FSX, so vPilot is looking for a file called FSX.cfg, but in fact you're using the Steam Edition, so your actual config file is probably called fsx_se.cfg. That's why it doesn't show FSX SE as an option in your simulator list.

I would try reinstalling FSX SE.
