Couple of tech questions for XSquawkbox for X-Plane 11.

1. I've downloaded X-CSL Package and ran it with my X-Plane 11 exe selected. But I still see very low res planes that dont quite match what they should be. Did I miss something or is that normal? (I followed all the steps listed.)

2. I dont hear other planes, as in, they dont make any sounds. I know you really wouldn't hear other planes while flying. But when taxiing, or waiting on the ground you would....or at least should? Once again, did I miss something?

Yes and no.

The X-CSL is a relatively low resolution model-set (it uses the legacy CSL system) compared to the new Bluebell OBJ8 model set available on x-plane.org.

That said, by default, X-CSL does not install into the correct location - you need to make sure you install it into the XSquawkBox CSL directory, not the default (which is the x-ivap directory).

Also make sure you haven't left the texture resolution option turned down too much - on most modern graphics cards, you have more than sufficient VRAM to turn it up to extreme.

Finally, we can't do anything about people using bogus equipment and airline data - that will make even a comprehensive CSL library useless.

Nup - no sound-effects. As the aircraft aren't real objects in X-Plane's world, they don't emit sound - we're simply drawing them in so you can see everybody.

No intention to fix - it'd make things terribly complicated with only an improvement during ground-ops - and we're talking about a more complicated change than pretty much anything else on my ever-growing todo list.

Not entirely sure that FSX/P3D don't already suffer this limitation for most CSL models either. I don't usually make a point to slew the viewpoint around the airport on the ground in FSX.

Please post any support related questions to the XSquawkBox support forum rather than private messaging me, thanks.

Ill check out the Bluebell set as soon as I get a chance. They install in the XSquawkox Resources folder correct?

That's ok, I was just curious. I'm still learning how everything operates. And I like to just move the camera round the airport while listing to ACT/Ground Control to get a better idea of how things function. Having the planes emit proper sounds would only add to the immersion. But I can also see why its not needed.

Thanks.
