On VATSIM can others see non-deafult planes?

To start I am completely new to VATSIM, and simming in general, anyways I was wondering if I downloaded a freeware plane, let's say a bmi Embraer erj 145 from simviation or avsim or something and logged onto the VATSIM network in it would other pilots see the bmi textures and plane as well or would it just look like a default plane?

Thanks for any feedback,

Jack.

Welcome to VATSIM Jack,

The pilot client will display whatever you tell it to. What others see however will depend on what they have installed.

In simple terms, you could fly your ERJ 145 in BMI colours. I have that same model set to resolve and I see it, whereas the next person has an ERJ but only in a different airlines colours so they could see that instead. Another user has no ERJ so will see it as what ever they have set as a default aircraft.

I've moved this topic to Pilot Talk since it is more appropriate than General Discussion.

Thanks for the response Norman,

Another question here, Is the World Of Ai package only to add Ai Planes to the game or would it help with other players being able to see my Embraer?

Nothing you can do (as far as adding models) will change how others see you Jack.

However, rest [Mod - Happy Thoughts]ured that most of us who have been on VATSIM for a while have a fairly comprehensive set of models installed and will see you as something reasonably close to what you're flying.

Cheers,
-R.
