Board of Governors Simon Kelsey Posted June 6, 2017 at 09:42 PM Board of Governors Posted June 6, 2017 at 09:42 PM Hi Ross, A suggestion which cropped up from one of our instructors recently: At some point in the future, would you consider adding a text alias feature to vPilot similar to that used in the ATC clients? It would make Unicom messaging in particular much less 'hands on' and if it used customisable files like the ATC clients could be easily adapted to any situation. I'm not sure how your ATC clients handle aliases, but the Euroscope method of placing the text string in the input area and allowing the user to 'fill in the blanks', with certain automated fields, works very well. Just a thought which in principle seems a very simple idea but I suspect may not be quite as easy to implement -- one never knows, though! Thanks! Trent Hopkinson Posted July 7, 2017 at 05:19 AM Posted July 7, 2017 at 05:19 AM I'd love some kind of macro where I can press 1 key command/combination and get pre-packaged text population of things like "[departure airport ICAO code] traffic, [own callsign] taxying to runway " (then you can type in the last 2 or 3 digits and hit enter.) "[departure airport ICAO code] traffic, [aircraft type] [own callsign] Enters runway " (then you can type in the last 2 or 3 digits and hit enter.) "[Arrival airport ICAO code] Traffic, [aircraft type] [own callsign] inbound, 10nm" (can type in a direction and runway) "[Arrival airport ICAO code] Traffic, [aircraft type] [own callsign] final approach, runway" (then you can type in the last 2 or 3 digits and hit enter.) "[Arrival airport ICAO code] Traffic, [aircraft type] [own callsign] vacated" I think with those 5 key macros, I'd be happier with text, and less likely to miss my final calls.
