Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has a high-quality photo of a STARS Keyboard as well as if this could work to emulate that keyboard.

This http://www.diakonsolutions.com/atcuseit/images/StarsInputs2.JPG is the one typically used in FAA facilities (there is also a QWERTY keyboard http://i.imgur.com/bSKlK9e.jpg, but those are almost non-existent in FAA STARS facilities... seems the DOD is the only one that prefers it).

When my facility went STARS, I tried to get them to go QWERTY and we were told "You get what you get, and the FAA prefers the ABCD keyboards".

I would like to create one with custom keys. However, the company said I would need to buy at least 10 sets. If anyone wants a STARS Keyboard with the layout below, then let me know.

Interested as well. FYI: vSTARS does support the r/w inverted numpad via a settings flag in the config file so if you wanted to do the 100% accurate layout with 1-2-3 as the top numpad row and 7-8-9 as the bottom that would be usable as well.

Correct. STARS rw has an upside down number pad. It's an abomination.

I'm a masochist and I flipped my keypad at home to start getting used to it before I go to the Academy. ERAM is the same way.

Thanks, I didn't know that. I'll flip those then.

This is why they invented acetate and inkjet printers.

The keyboard without the custom keys is $230. So you could get that and print your own keys. Or you can have

actual keycaps for $60 more. To me, it's worth it. I understand that others may not want to pay that.

I can't speak for P&P, but the keyboard's are actually $10 less, $218.46. I'm surprised that there aren't any other programmable keyboards of the same workings available for a cheaper price.

I don't know how that specific keyboard works, or STARS, but if the keyboard is designed to just do dot (.) commands, you could emulate the same with an Arduino and a lot of push-to-make buttons for a lot less.

Kind Regards,

Kieran Cross,

Sorry, I guess I didn't find it for that price.

The site you linked, from the manufacturer, allows direct purchase from them. If you select 10, you'll see the price appear.
