[BUG] STARS just Imploded..

This morning, I opened STARS and received a "There was an error in the XML docomeent" error out of nowhere. I controlled last night for over 6 hours and nothing happened, and I open it this morning and that pops up. I can't recall the exact numbers, but I Googled the issue and found that deleting the vSTARSConfig.xml would help. If anything, that made it worse.

I opened vSTARS again and it said it couldn't load any of the servers. I've reinstalled both the beta and the full release version, yet any time I open it, it gives me a "could not load any servers" error and gives me an unhandled exception error whenever I try to go into the user settings.

EDIT: I'd like to point out I did check the "Clean config" option when re-installing it.

Yes. I've tried both the beta and the full version. At the time before this all happened, I was running the beta. After I tried to fix it, I re-installed both the beta and the release version.

You need to install either the final stable release, or the latest beta, and in either case, you must check the option to install an empty config file, OR delete your existing config file first, in which case an empty file will be installed in its place.

I have more than once. vSTARS would actually start when I tried it, but it would still give me the unhandled exception when I went to user settings. Now it just won't start.

EDIT: Here's a video detailing exactly what i'm doing to reinstall vSTARS.

The issue was fixed by changing "" in the vSTARSconfig.xml to "".

It appears there was an issue with the latest installer.

The latest installer actually fixes that issue ... I have no idea why it wasn't working on your system, Grant.

Dominic, you should be able to do a clean install of the latest beta and make sure you select the option to install an empty config file.

For some reason the installer isn't overwriting the config file when you select the option to install an empty config file. So you'll need to manually delete your existing config file before running the installer.

Now I can't access the settings without it crashing on 1.1.5 and 1.1.4. The vSTARSConfig name thing didn't even exist. Simscope was always there.

EDIT

So far, I've tried uninstalling it, reinstalling a clean version of 1.1.5. I've imported a facility, settings work, but the knobs on the side starts to yield the same errors

The sound files are still intact from the fresh install. But it explains why I don't hear sounds and whenever anything that has to do with the sound starts to throw that error

Should I start a different thread for that sound problem? I think it might be a directx problem or something windows related. The sound files are still there.
