Nicholas Gilbert Posted July 12, 2017 at 11:16 AM Posted July 12, 2017 at 11:16 AM (edited) Hi all, I'm running a Scarlett 2i2 USB interface as my primary audio system on my main games PC. However, I'm having trouble getting it to work with vPilot. VP detects the correct devices (and gives me both wave and DS options for line in and line out), but when I go to calibrate, it gives me a 'speechdrownedout' error with a squelch of 1. I know the mic and everything to the system is correct because I can hear myself through direct monitoring on the interface itself. I can hear system sounds, etc, fine through the device, and I can record and playback fine in other applications I know can deal properly with ASIO USB devices. Is there something I've overlooked or done incorrectly, or is the issue just the vPilot doesn't play nice with ASIO devices? Any [Mod - Happy Thoughts]istance would be much appreciated. Thanks! Ross Carlson Posted July 12, 2017 at 01:14 PM Posted July 12, 2017 at 01:14 PM This is the first I've heard of vPilot not working with an audio device. After you get the speechdrownedout message, does it play back anything? Nicholas Gilbert Posted July 13, 2017 at 01:59 AM Author Posted July 13, 2017 at 01:59 AM Hi Ross, No, it's completely silent. If I didn't already know it played back a sample after calib, I wouldn't even know it was playing anything. I also subsequently tested it with Window's inbuilt SoundRecorder, and it can't detect any audio devices, even though Windows reports line in and line out for this device in its playback and recording windows (along with a digital s/pdif device that honestly I'm not sure about, I don't know what hardware it corresponds to). Having said that, I have no idea if Soundrecorder even works with ASIO interfaces. So there might be some weird thing going on - I thought it might be ASIO related, which is why I asked the original question about whether vPilot plays nice with ASIO devices. The interface shows up in vPilot with both Wave and DirectSound options. Again, I'm sure it's not just I haven't turned up the input on my Interface, because I can hear it through live monitoring during calibration and test recording in DAWs (The one I tested in was Sonar). My guess is for some reason it isn't p[Mod - Happy Thoughts]ing along the ASIO information in a way vPilot can understand or detect. Running Windows 7 64bit.
