Apparently it is very important that the sampling rate of your microphone is set to 44.1 kHz and not to 48.0 kHz. When Windows gets updated it can occasionally modify this setting and you are advised to have a look at the properties of your headset-microphone and make sure it is set to 44.1 kHz. Hopefully this will help you or others that you encounter and can make them aware of it.
