AccuMap - VATSIMs newest and best "Who's online" client!

Tried to run the update that came up today when I started accomeap. Failed 4 times, gave up. I then tried going to the Accomeap website and downloading the installer. Closed accomeap down, ran the installer, and ran into one error after another

 

I finally got it installed. I had to download the latest version from the website. Then I had to go into windows task manager and close down multiple accomeap.exe that were running. This is after I had closed the program down. Once I got all the accomeap.exe that were running apparently in the background, then the installer let me install the program without multiple errors and the installer hanging or shutting down.

 

I do have a question, is it normal to see 3 accomeap.exe processes running in task manager when the program is open?

I know this was an apparent issue in 1.3.0, was this when you installed the software? If so, that's a bug but should have been fixed in 1.4.0.

If it happened in 1.4.0, we'll look into it (but it shouldn't be happening) or we have found only happens occasionally.

Re: Out of date sectors:

We rely on community input and contribution to keeo our sectors up to date. If we have no data for the sub-sectors, we do the same as VAT-Spy and hilight the FIR. If you want your sector splits and hierarchies simulated, please submit information here: http://accomeap-project.com

 

Re: Auto-updates:

Ever since V0.1.0, we've been having issues with auto-updates. They seem to be hit-and-misses with almost everyone having different experiences. It's worked for me some days, hasn't worked other days.

We've narrowed the problem down to the installer file for the updates app not executing. If you are still getting the popup for a new version after downloading, please navigate to

%appdata%/Accomeap

and run the accomeap-install.exe file.

 

Downloads are working, execution is not.

We're actively trying to solve this issue, but it's not easy to test, nor is it easy to debug.

Great to hear it's working for you now! In regards to the previous answer, no there shouldn't be 3 processes running in the background, it's just something that happens occasionally.

I suspect that is why the installer would not work, because it kept saying that it could not update because the files were in use. Apparently it shut down one of them, but the other two running kept the update from running. I believe the multiple processes are quite normal. One is the wrapper, the other two are like rendering nodes. Google Chrome does the exact same thing, but with more processes. They are not duplicate processes.

Can you go to Settings => Debugger and see if there's anything in there? And confirm that it never-ending downloads data?

Today Accomeap loaded everything on first run-up, nothing displayed in the debugger.

Issue started again, debugger is empty.

This is a particularly hard one to debug. Are you able to provide exact steps to reproduce?

And also advise if you clicked on an airport pin first (if so, I may have found the issue).

Open Accomeap, press the data refresh button and wait. The pilot list gets actualized, but the refresh button doesn't stop turning (ATC list still empty). Close Accomeap and restart. Press data refresh button again and all is properly shown. Cannot give more info from my side, unfortunately.

 

EDIT: Just saw your edited post. Can't remember to have clicked on an airport pin first, though.

As I mentioned before, a hard one to find but we'll look into it.

 

Accomeap, while showing potential, has a long way to go to catch up with Plan-G. I tried Accomeap and never knew where I was in relation to cities, states, etc.

 

We can add your position on the network to the map, but bear in mind that we are a VATSIM "Who's Online" map and not a quick flight planner or live flight tracker that Plan-G is. We will still continue to make improvements to the software.

Sounds good. But PlanG does all this already. Moving map, who's online, what controllers your flying into or away, etc. etc.

The whole purpose of Accomeap was to be a cross platform, "Who's online" client with accurate sub-sectorisation and ATC sector hierarchy depiction, a single global database of all sectors and airports, so nobody is left behind, and provide both pilots and controllers the basic information they need to get going (weather, traffic, ATC).

 

We are in no way competing with PlanG, which from what i've seen is more of a pilot tool. We are not creating a pilot tool for pilots, we are creating a VATSIM tool for every single VATSIM user.

If I had a nickel for every time I started a flight, taxied out, took off, and then heard the controller state that they were signing off with no other controller in sight, I would be rich. If there was some way that the controller would have to state how long they expected to be on duty, many people on Vatsim would be thankful.

We would love to do this, but it would be more something VATSIM would have to implement first (ie. in the controller clients). Euroscope does have the option to display their time of log off, but what about VRC (and other) users? Also, the controller may not know when they are about to log off and when you connect and find they are about to, it's shear luck of the draw. Great idea, but it proves a bit difficult to implement at the moment.

What does that mean . I know my system is a 32 bit.

Did you download the 32-BIT version off the website? It looks like you have downloaded the 64-BIT version by accident.

I am positive that i have the 32 bit download and that my system is a 32 bit system. Does not make sence.
