Jacob Smith 1384525 Posted October 7, 2017 at 12:42 PM Posted October 7, 2017 at 12:42 PM Hey everyone, so recently me and my friend have been trying to do VPilot shared cockpit, but it is refusing to work, I've tried multiple aircraft, but it doesn't work. Does it matter that my friend is using FSX Boxed edition and me using FSX:SE? I am connecting as a Cessna 172 as C166 and he is connecting in the same aircraft as C166A as observer. I couldn't see him, but he couldn't see me either. I have no clue what's going on. Help Appreciated. Thanks, Jacob.
Board of Governors Simon Kelsey Posted October 7, 2017 at 01:13 PM Board of Governors Posted October 7, 2017 at 01:13 PM HI Jacob, vPilot does not create a shared cockpit connection: all it does is enable two pilots already connected in a shared cockpit to connect to VATSIM without both appearing as separate aircraft. The FSX shared cockpit feature only really works with default aircraft and you must both be on the same version (ie both on Boxed or both on Steam). One of you will need to host a multiplayer session (and will need to forward the requisite ports on your router) to which the other connects. Once you have established the shared cockpit session thus, you can then both connect to VATSIM using vPilot. Trent Hopkinson Posted October 8, 2017 at 11:08 PM Posted October 8, 2017 at 11:08 PM There are some specific addons that have their own setups for shared cockpit systems. Again, Vpilot only allows an already-shared cockpit to work on vatsim by allowing one of the computers to "See & hear" traffic on vatsim without showing up as an extra aircraft/duplicate radar return sitting on top of the other guy. It's basically a "Be invisible, but able to see and hear" mode for Vpilot. Here's an example of how to use the Majestic Dash-8 Q400 (DH8D) connects, note that no vatsim connection was attempted during this example, the 2 pilots are talking to each other using skype/teamspeak/ventrillo/dischord/a telephone/whatever Trent Hopkinson YMML. www.youtube.com/musicalaviator WorldFlight 2002,2008,2009, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2015
